Hi to all,
Am having some problem with the file format.
I chose RAW + JPEG fine in the menu..
But when i access the files later, i found out that 2 JPEG of the same pic were saved instead of one RAW and one JPEG fine..
And the file will have been named one as DSC_001 and the other same pic will be DSC_001 (10)..
BTW, the 2 files are of the same size.

So i tried taking in RAW only and it came out ok, in NEF format and abt 25mb in size.
Same with TIFF as well..
But not when i tried to take RAW + JPEG together..
Feel like popping by either MS or Nikon tomorrow to find out wat's wrong ith my camera?

Anybody encountered this or is there some settings which i failed to set properly..
Pls advise..
Thanx

Sorry about the OT posting..
BTW, anyone can advise me on the above?

Ok people. Need you help here. Hope someone can supply me with the exact figures.

- In RAW mode, how many photos can a 4Gb and 8Gb CF card take? (Specifically for the Nikon D300)

I'm planning my purchase of memory cards and hope to know before I buy. Thanks much! :)

If you shoot in 14-bit mode uncompressed RAW, you get about 150 per 4GB card (25.5 MB per image).

If you shoot in 12-bit lossless compressed RAW, you get about 270 per 4GB card (13MB per image).

I have the same experience when transfering the files direct from the camera, ie treating the camera as another drive. No such problem when the CF card was read from a reader instead, all the RAW files were intact. Havent tried Nikon Transfer yet.

Thanks for the info bro. So these are the only 2 RAW formats available for the D300?

No. There are too many combinations, so I took the largest RAW setting and the 2nd-smallest RAW setting. The smallest-sized format would have to be 12-bit lossy compressed RAW but since I never shoot in that setting, I don't know how many pics a 4GB can fill.

Interesting, 25.5MB per 14bit RAW image file, it sure is a very big file!

hi just curious,

there's isn't curve to load in D300?
