Thanx guys for all the help..
Playing with the setting did squeezed a lot more out of the buffer size..
I managed to get "r26" JPEG Large fine when i off the D-Light, High ISO NR, Long Exp NR and set the file compression to size priority. Really appreciated all the wonderful help i can get here..

And also one more thing to ask, will i be able to get more out of the buffer if i go for the Lexar 8GB 300x UDMA CF?
Very tempted to get..
But if the difference is not much then maybe i will forgo the idea.
Thanx once again

if i'm not wrong, buffer is like a hardware in ur cam.
just like ur HDD in ur PC.want more gig?up the HDD.

So as to say getting a higher speed CF will not improve the camera picture taking speed by leaps and bounds.. Is that right to say?

buffer is the amount of memory in the camera. it has nothing to do with the speed of the card.

You should note that on the Lexar UDMA 300X card the pics will finish writing much faster (the blinking green light goes off when writin is done) than with the other cards, which means you will have another buffer of 12-15 shots again much sooner than say with the Kingston. I did see that Silicon Power has 300X UDMA cards too at Cathay Photo. Don't know the price though.

What i meant if if i get a faster card, the buffer can be cleared faster so enable the camera to shot faster.
I read somewhere that D300 was tested to shot 100 shots non stop at JPEG Large Fine..
But i can't seems to get that kind of speed
i only manage to get 26 shot at that setting after removing all the D-light and the all the NR..

Anybody get better than that using a faster CF?

i thought no matter how fast ur card is,if ur cam's write speed is slow it will still cause a bottle neck?

Thanx a million, SYC77...
You're really a great help.. :)

True, good points.

There are always pros and cons for each design.

Cons:
- cannot change battery inside D300 conveniently.

Pros:
- allows larger-capacity batteries to be inserted into the grip yet maintain a battery inside D300. The capacity increase is good enough that you probably don't need to replace the D300 battery during assignments.

- easier to install and remove the grip during assignments. No need to re-insert another battery in D300 and fit back the battery door.

- a more compact grip for storage in the camera bag when removed.

But currently there are no larger capacity batteries for the MB-D10 right?

EN-EL4a used by D3 can be used, they are known to last over 3k shots in a single charge on D3...

Oh yeah, thanks, read that somewhere in the thread above but thought I got it wrong as I don't see that reflected anywhere in the Nikon SG website..:dunno:

Does the D300 viewfinder shows the ISO value?

Does the D300 viewfinder shows the ISO value?

yes it does... i would have liked to have it shown on the top lcd w/o pressing the ISO button as well:dunno:

Hi to all,
Am having some problem with the file format.
I chose RAW + JPEG fine in the menu..
But when i access the files later, i found out that 2 JPEG of the same pic were saved instead of one RAW and one JPEG fine..
And the file will have been named one as DSC_001 and the other same pic will be DSC_001 (10)..
BTW, the 2 files are of the same size.

So i tried taking in RAW only and it came out ok, in NEF format and abt 25mb in size.
Same with TIFF as well..
But not when i tried to take RAW + JPEG together..
Feel like popping by either MS or Nikon tomorrow to find out wat's wrong ith my camera?

Anybody encountered this or is there some settings which i failed to set properly..
Pls advise..
Thanx
