Tried the D300 at the Nikon Showroom yesterday. The shutter button is very springy, just like those buttons/signal indicator stalks you find in more expensive cars. But, hey i wonder do you all D300/200 owners get tired index fingers, coz u need more strength to press the button...

and the directional pad, wow feels better than my PSP's !

hmm.. no ...dun find too much effort in pressing the shutter button. As someone mentioned, it is more nicely damped compared to my D80 .

d-pad yeah! really smooth and fast. The D80 one is a bit stiff and i was concerned that going thru the many AF points would be a pain if it was the same on the D300.

BTW... anyone did AF finetuning on their lenses? I noticed some backfocus on my 17-55 and the finetuning worked well to rectify it.

Mdm Luval

I think u got the message thru the first or 2nd time...give the guys a break

i don't have a comic for u but u do remind me of a naggy auntie.

for those yet to try to d2x modes on ur d300... i just took a snap shot of my girl using Mode I, which is supposed to simulate skin tones. image from cam, resized only in PSE5. WB is calibrated using an Expodisc.

DSC0339.jpg

not too bad. quite pleasant colour gradations for skins. btw, the NX1.3 has incorporated the new pic controls into it. u can also try out the effects there.

Looks good, might try Mode 1 for some portraits later. Any idea what color tones the other 2 modes would produce?

From the nikon site

D2XMODE1: This optional Picture Control simulates color reproduction at a D2X/D2XS Color mode setting of I. Skin tones and gradations are reproduced naturally with rich reproduction of tones;
D2XMODE2: This optional Picture Control simulates color reproduction at a D2X/D2XS Color mode setting of II. This optional Picture Control is suited to images that will be extensively processed or retouched;
D2XMODE3: This optional Picture Control simulates color reproduction at a D2X/D2XS Color mode setting of III. Choose for nature or landscape shots. Greens and blues are vividly reproduced.

Not bad.. Looks quite close to D2X colour gradations, quite film like. :thumbsup:
