do u guys find it's significant upgrade?
More significant than 1DMkII -> 1DMkIIN I reckon ;)

I guess as long as it's Nikon its significant. :bsmilie: this is brand loyalty. If it was from another camp, then it's not a big deal.

check out the New Black and White mode WOW! like I needed that!

Save/Load settings between multiple D2Xs cameras  this is good. When camera is down, just rent one and upload your settings.
Of course! More significant than 20D -> 30D I also think ;) At least Nikon still keeps the name D2X with an 's' to indicate a minor revision vs a new, +10 to the model numbering ;)

As for Save/Load, more like you need to sync settings across multiple cameras, make a backup of them, or if the cam has problem, switch to the backup with the same settings.

Still waiting for a cam that comes with a mobile phone feature.

If you read thru the specifications, there are hardware changes involved, it is much more than just a firmware upgrade, the AF module likely need changing.
Heard that the AF sensor was replaced with a more sensitive circuitry. If it were just the algorithm, it may be addressed by the new firmware. However, most of the other functions should be available to the existing D2X via a firmware upgrade. My experience with the D70->D70s is very positive. With the new firmware, the focusing accuracy for the D70 which I was using in my previous company was very much improved and quite close to my own D70s. Even the software functions are very similar. The only differences which cannot be addressed were the wired remote socket, the slightly larger LCD and the wider angle of coverage for the on-camera flash.

So I am quite positive that Nikon will not shortchange the existing D2X users.

this is call fine-tuning of the shelf product. :bsmilie:

there's nothing we can do about it. its really LPPL for the first batch of owners esp. if the improvement is vast and dramatic.

maybe Nikon would be so nice to offer a trade in for the existing owners...
Usually the improvement is not that great that will make existing owners curse and swear like some other brand does. Look at D70->D70s, most of the refinements comes with a firmware upgrade, the rest of the hardware refinements are not significant enough that the existing owners can choose to live without.

After all, my concern cores down to the needs of the photographer’s. Only he or she knows what is “best” required to fulfill his/her job assignments.

I met someone from this forum who was the proud owner of a wonderful camera, the D70s..However, in less than 2 months he became the proud owner of the D200.! What surpried me is until his full understanding of the wonderful features of his previous camera was utilised and put to work, the changed is already made.

Now he is telling me about a possible D2hs or even D2X or D2Xs on his mind..It saddened me to see such frantic chase after “equipment”. Get what is needed for the job and not what you want to own. That’s it..Simple as that..

Hey guys, I still used my humble F801s and D1..

I hope I have not in any ways made any offensive remarks to anyone, whether directly or un-intentionally. If I have, please accept my sincere apologies.

Happy shooting guys..!

Hi KH

Good advice.

It's not the camara that make a great photo; its the relationship between the photographer and the camara - one based on knowledge and experience - that produces the best results.

Anyone have comments on the slightly different high-speed crop mode? I thought the shading out feature was rather good.

Existing D2X users got any problem with accidentally "chopping off heads/feet"?

i have the D2Xs, the shading is useful but not end of the world if you dont have it. on contrary. the LCD is much more accurate than the original D2X.
