to argue against this is like arguing against a fart. i think you are giving the 'critiques' way too much credit lah...to even want to argue about this.
there is no absolute right or wrong, it's all relative to our current level of understanding and perceptions. all these clashes of egoes...to me it's a joke to CS.

I actually meant to present a debate topic. As to whether I really believe critiques in CS is a representation of ego clashing, that is another story. I know better than to allow myself to swiftly generalise the population.

My 2 cents on the entire Galactic Empire Saga:
No one is absolutely right and no one is absolutely wrong. Photography is an ART. I can scream at a friend's photo being crap for being 'too plain', doesn't send any message across & doesn't inspire and he returns fire at my photos for being 'over-exposed, under-exposed, not sharp'.
Ultimately it ends up all in a verbal sparring that leads nowhere (except ego boost) if one continues to believe in oneself without sitting down and thinking abt the words of another through and using the words of another (however harsh) to stop shooting for a while, think things thru, incorporate and redevelop it into a unique style and an original composition that would make one stands out from the rest.
However, what is this Art all about? Had been thinking things thru a little, regardless of one's profession, knowledge, experience... Everyone is an amauter in photography regardless. Letting one's ego stand in the way would be akin to building a brick wall on one's stairs of improvement (which is never-ending, even I'm pretty surprised to learn some things from supposed 'newbies').
Shit or not, that piece of poo being smeared on one's face by another stains ur face and the chap's hand which can be washed off as one perserves and climb up the stairs that's no doubtly filled with pins, needles, spines, oil. But all that mudslinging if its gonna affect one so badly that one had decided to build a brick wall, sit on the last flight of stairs and stay there - nothing and nobody's gonna change.
Rather than firing back in a war of words and expending that energy on such, why not use that burst of power and strength on further improving one's skill to defeat the opponent thoroughly till he admits complete defeat?
Yes, I know I'm probably going to get filled with lead like swiss cheese for saying the above (and I'm no long-standing, established photographer). As for that mudslinging on one's professional standing of occupation thingy, well, I guess I'll reserve my comments.

3. critic say something ts does not want to hear - clash of egos.
everybody has their own opinions of course will have clashes lah. so what's so special. if no clash of egos then that is something to talk about.
