As mentioned earlier, there is a light at the back of the subject, either high or low, the high/low position is to reduce the possibility of lens flare.

In this case there is a spot light at the top rear of the subject.
Most concert lighting use this to make the subject stand out from the background.

it is just a wooden box, we got people to build it. My partner took care of that so I dunno how much it cost. It's pretty common to get people to build sets, so just go down to a carpenter and ask them for a quote.

But note, the white box needs constant maintanence, it gets dirty very easily.

hmm yeap, i'm thinking of getting a white and black box. is your box heavy? last time i tried to construct a crude box (not for photography but other things) and it got so heavy i need to put wheels below to move it.

laminated with matt white formica is still reflective. use eg. maxilite wall white(dull) paint. repaint as often as necessary.

Is it something like this? I use 3 lights, 1 in front abt 45 degree, 2 background lights left and right. Then added 2 white card board (big ones) to surround the model left and right.

i suppose the two white cards are placed angling towards the camera to pick up and reflect lights from the 45 degrees light.

I love this. No fanciful light boxes, scrims, gobos. Just plain simple use of existing light! :thumbsup:
