Went to check out all the shooting area yesterday along the bay. One Marina boulevard ,Centra Promontory area are all fenced up due to construction so don bother going there.

As shown in the map, the fireworks platform consist of 2 areas. 1st area if I did not see wrongly is a straight row (horizontally based on map) somewhere infront of '4'. 5 smaller stations between '4.5' and '5'. with all the wishing sphere in between them.

Below are some of the points I gathered yesterday:

- Good Luck with Area 1.... :P

- If I am not mistaken, Marina bay countdown consist of 2 areas, the free and paying area(Nt sure abt the free part). Free area should be the siting area and paying area is on the platform itself. High far easten side of the sitting area for me I could see the CBD skyline with Fullerton partly visible. Depends on how you frame it, this could very well be the best spot for me.

- Ending area near '6' beside the ferry terminal is nt bad, and if u dare to do it, u can cross over the barrier to the back of the terminal (nt sure anyone from the terminal or police will be there by 12am), than u will have a front row view of the esplanade area.

- Anywhere between area 6 and 5 should be ok too if u still wanna some backdrop of either the uncompleted IR buildings the marina bay area skyline but do take note some white glowing pillar things were placed along the area for deco or somthing. Fairly wide angle lens are needed here.

- Area betweet 5 and 4, u will need a UWA lens no joke. Its too near and will be too high for comfort. For viewing only its fine, infact the feeling of fireworks just above your head would be most desirable, for shooting wise is another story I'm afraid.

- Area 2 and 3 are both ok for shooting plenty of clear sky for the fireworks but however, I must warn those who wish to incorporate any nice backdrop would find these 2 spot challenging.

- Every year I love and hate this event. Can't drive if I wanna party. Can't party if I wanna shoot fireworks (not till after 12 anyway if I still have the energy carrying all the gear and tripod). Oh well~ Wishing everyone a advance Happy New Year! Have a nice shoot tonight!

nice.

the area @ central promontory still open? last year it was but i heard from my friends its out of bounds alr.

From my pass experience, take a drive to ECP at 11.50pm..take a slow drive there and plan to stop at Benjamin Sheares Bridge at 11.59pm. There will be jam and every vehicles will stop at 12am at BSB. DOnt care about traffic police, they dont mind since its a jam and you can get out of the vehicles and take out your monopod and wide angle and shoot. Once you shoot and firework end...pack your stuffs and quickly to your vehicle and drive off.

LOL..you got to time your drive real good. Plus with so many cars there are chances that you will miss the timing. :)

Another location is Marina South..

Last time i used to go to the coastline near Tanjong Rhu there, which is about 10mins walk in...
But i heard that area is closed liao... :(

That area is the best i feel...

Wats wrong with Area 1? too crowded? or blocked by the ECP bridge?

I checked the central promontory area beside NTUC building yesterday, totally fenced off by the roadside all the way to IR, basically its like part of the IR construction site now. They are also constructing a new building into the bay beside the park, so part of the view already blocked off =(

Tanjong Rhu area also under construction when i checked 3 days back, but seems like able to go in.

Yup. and also...to me personally, I find the uncompleted IR building damn irritating. Moreover, the '1' in the Map, I think they mean 'go buy the ex tickets and hope just nice when u are up to the highest point in the flyer the fireworks goes off' :D

If Tanjong Rhu side confirm can go in, i would rather go there.
Not much crowd there and the area is huge.. but got to fence off the mossies.. hehe

Which part of Tanjung Rhu is that?

Which part of Tanjung Rhu is that?

Near pebble cove condo i believe... also next to the golf course, basically across the body of water opposite the marina barrage

The IR is irritating.... blocks off the nice skyline and maybe the low fireworks from viewing places like the barrage or tanjung rhu.

I used to walk up the benjamin shears bridge, but not sure if they still allow that. Maybe marina sq kopitiam will be an option. I checked out esplanade roof also, but very small confirmed super packed.

the Marina Sq kopitiam might be closed?

Esplanade roof closed on 31th and 1st. Benjamin Shears Bridge(pedestrian walk) closed from 6pm onwards.

They're constructing some garden there, unless you have access to Marina Bay Golf Course or you secretly sneak into the construction there.

PM me if you do decide to sneak in.
