i'm looking for a compact cam for my parents to use on their overseas trip, budget less then $300, thus a would be looking in the B&S section.. any recommendations? was thinking i can also use this compact at times when i don't need to lug out my dslr. i think a 8MP or even a 6MP compact is more then enuff for me hor? nowadays compacts got what functions arh? video recording would really b useful for me also (since 50D no video la).

Hmm... But I find LX-3 value for money.

Lots of control, fast lens (24-60mm f/2-2.8 on 35mm format) and HD (720 at 24fps) movie.

hmm.. can't find the pocket to fork out that money.. sad la. i think my parents don't even want to spend ANY money for ANY camera.. :sweat: thought i should encourage them la since they flying overseas for the first time!

I just have to convince them. If not, just get any Lumix or Powershot.

ya.. was thinking of a powershot also.. since canon, the functions/menu is familiar. hmm. guess like w the limited budget, not much options. :sweat:

But if you want wider at the wide end, look at Lumix.

Go for Lumix. I have 2 lumix PnS which are still working. TZ-3 & FS25 .
