Me looking to buy Selphy CP740. Anyone interested? I can order from my uncle but I dunno how much he can get for me. UP is 199.
if i would up grade to 50d+18-270 lens, i will give up my 18-55 & 55-250, soon or later the nissin to change to 580ex.
after survey, 50d+tamron18-270 cost $2630, but i can get a d300+tamron18-270 @ $2705, down side is ...is a malaysia set. and the spec of d300 win hands down over 50d, except the pixels 12mb vs 15mb.
canon yes....got widest range of lenses, 1st...L is expensive, 2nd....I dont need all of them.
i choose d300....the last thing i lost is my 50mm (easy to sell) & phottic ($19).
hope my move is not wrong.
was thinking to try pentax k-7, got built in image stabilizer...then lens without IS cheaper, now the N is not too expensive, so give a try.
so...did u manage to sell your 1000d?

D300 and 50D about the same specs. I dun see any huge differences that make D300 win hands down? :think:
1. Burst mode D300 wins with up to 8fps on hi-speed but also depends on your CF card.
2. 50D has ISO expansion to 12800 while D300 can go up to 6400 by pushing the EV on ISO3200.
3. Mega-pixel do not really matter unless you are printing some kickass big posters.
4. Nikon does have the internal wireless flash trigger that Canon dun have.
But I think more or less, out in the field both can be on par IMO. Anyway hor, D300s is launching soon, so I suggest that you hold your guns 1st if you decided to go for D300.
Just my 2 cents. I'm learning Nikon system but not changing system. So I'm not biased towards any brand or makes. After all, it's just a machine.

N's auto focus 51 points vs 9 on C, it metering sensor is better too.

For me, 90% of my pics were taken by using center AF point only.
So, 51 points or 9 points doesn't really matter for my usage.
I think also depends on what you wanna achieve.
Just read the AF system of D300. Very impressive indeed. But utilizing most of the points are mostly controlled by the camera. Got 3 modes. But review also said that although the system is same as D3 but it's lacking the horsepower of a D3 in AF speed and accuracy.
I used the 51 AF point to track movement such as, F-16 flying pass.. I lock the F16 and the sensor follow the plane and running around the screen. Very impressive! It is like a missile's target.
