lessons we can learn from the case.....

"what goes round, comes round"

"pride goes before a fall"

"the love of money is the root of all evil"

I think you got it all wrong ...... we are talking peanuts here, not money. Well at least you got the first two facts correct ..... about a fat and round monkey falling down.......falling down. ;)

Don't know who he is, but it sounds like a good choice -- Institute of 'Public Character'.

If you do not know him, how can you say he a is good choice.
What talking you?

It is the choice of the health Minister. You cannot choose, you have no choice. Whether you know him or not it is a good choice for him.

But I still want my money back.

hmmm.........

I can't think of a better candidate than Mr Gerard Ee. For the benfit of those who do not know him, he's the son of the late Dr Ee Peng Liang, who was fondly remembered as the Father of Charity ...

Then again, it's going to be tough on him ... he really got the job cut out for him!

As the chairman of AA Singapore also , he's holding a handful of portfolio , but given the performance he showed over the years , he definately can handle it.

How has the NKF turned its back on Mr. Durai? They gave him a standing ovation after he explained why he withdrew from the court case, and he is choosing to step down by himself. Nobody in the NKF is forcing him to step down.

Hey dude, someone wants him to step down as soon as possible so that this case/incident will soon vanish into thin air without what's really happening/to be known by the public regarding how NKF opperate with all this funds. I think? :dunno:

I personally know the ex-CEO TTD when I was a volunteer with NKF for the last 5 years (before I went overseas for studies), and recently resumed my volunteering. Before TTD became the CEO of NKF, he was a successful lawyer running his own private practice. He was earning definitely more than what NKF was paying him then. And given his intelligent and motivation, I'm sure he definitely can earn much more than what he got from NKF for the last 10 years if he had remained as a lawyer.

Nevertheless, TTD has resigned and I won't want to say further on this unfortunate NKF's saga.

Whoever wanna flame me for what I said, go ahead. I couldn't bother more.

ANY LAYWER EARN MORE THAN S$20,000 IN A MONTH!! WELL, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!! :dunno:

do you know that if nkf were a public listed co, i believe he would not do what he has done in nkf as he, as a lawyer, knows what can be done legally? more so, because the board of nkf seems to have given him a free hand.

"First, the business relationships Mr Durai had with NKF board member Ms Matilda Chua.

These were through two companies - Proton Web Solutions, a call centre operations based in India, which NKF had contracted its tele-marketing work to - and Global Net, in which Mr Durai himself had a stake.

Mr Durai also said he had held several directorships in addition to his work as CEO of the NKF.

Asked if he had informed the NKF Board of these appointments, he replied that it was not consequential and the Board gave him the liberty to do so."
Unquote.

now that gerard ee has been appointed interim chairman of nkf, ppl will wait and see what he does next. no point moaning any more about nkf now without giving him a chance to revamp the organisation.

damn TL. I didnt know that my monthly contribution goes to feed Mr D's , his family, his car, road tax, maintenance, and dunno wat else.

Our sole purpose of making these donations was to save lives & help the poor but not to make the rich richer!!!

To me, he has CHEATED ('fooled' is too mild a word) not only me but the entire Singapore population.
After this episode, I really hope he will be visited by the CPIB friends.

The more I read, the more my blood boil....Somehow Mrs Goh's comments really embarrassed her husband also. Her comments were so shallow.....

I really want to know how much of our charity dollar goes to Mr D & his board of directors.

Anyway kudos to him for turning the art of begging into a professional profession!
I really sympathized with the patients that they have to go in front of national tele to beg on NKF's behalf. They have already suffered so much....

Some more they now have this NKF-Cancer Charity??? We already have Singapore Cancer Society/Foundation & the Children's Caner Fundation. Why are they crossing the bundaries? Arent they supposed to focus on kidney-ailments & dalysis only? Shouldnt the other cancer organisations take the lead? Is it becos they want to increase their reserves and to increase the CEO's salary & bonus (may be 15 months bonus in 2006)??

It seems that they have contract with Mediacorp ...it's an annual event....and with NKF-Cancer, it's semi-annual!
Fwah, all the Mediacorp artises also bang. Imagine they sacrifice their time, effort, injuries and even lives to feed Mr D and his family.
We need the CPIB here but that may not happen as more prominent names could be dragged into this ****...

Resignation is not a form of punishment......It's just to acknowledge responsibility of wrong-doing. It's only a slap on the wrist for these people. Some more, they are not even remorsefu;!
The NKF CEO and the BOD should issue a public apology and bow on national TV to all of us - just like the Japanese. Thereafter, they should be dealt with accordingly.

Something from the past: VICIOUS E-MAIL Should you hunt down the senders? .... A high-profile organisation like the NKF will always be subjected to comments, both good and bad. We must be prepared to take a tough stand and face them.
- Ms Matilda Chua, NKF's senior associate Director quoted in The Straits Times, May 6, 1999.

"The e-mail alleged that NKF was paying ridiculously high bonuses to its staff and urged others not to give donations to the foundation.

The originator of the e-mail has since paid up $50,000 in damages, apologised publicly and retracted her statements. "

That person was sauy at that time.... she should get justice now!

don't worry, NKF has lots of money. $260 million in fact.

even if NKF had no money, do you think the Gov will do nothing and let thousands of kidney patients die?
