I do read the news and i do ponder on what is written.

out of touch with reality? Might be the medication i am taking ;p

I do not have an issue with the organization as well, but i do agree that the organization needs to be "more" transparent (is this the right word?) to the public.

44 % = how many patients?
56% = how many patients?

With an reserve of $200+ Millions, helping 1800 kidney patient is really pittance. With that kind of money I would expect 70-90% of kidney patient get their treatment at NKF. Talk about efficiency and economy of scale!!
I've no problem withthe CEO's $25K salary. Its the transparency and accountibility that's a problem. I do believe the whole jing-gang of CEO, Snr Mgmt and BoD should leave. New sets of Snr management should be form and these appt should on single 4 years term. No 2nd term allowed. :nono:

If you can please read the news papers and ponder on what has been reported.

I do not have an issue with the organization, the issue is with its management. Nor do I have an issue with you but your posting sound a little out of touch with reality.

For a charity set up to help kidney patients -- with 260mil of reserves it cannot even handle more than 44% of the people needing treatment. Money was donated to help save lives does that mean this 56% ( a majority) has the means to pay for treatment ? I assume that certain number will not get treatment and will die but what is worse is that if KDF with smaller resources actually handles the bulk of this 56%. From the numbers alone it is clear that NKF has to rethink what are its priorities and its goals - fund raising is important using the funds raised is even more important. No point telling us not enough money so some will die because of this lack. If I was being strict a 44% servicing rate does not sound like the sign of an effective organization.

If they cannot tackle their own task, they should confine themselves to completing their job before trying to tackle cancer care which is the area which Singapore Cancer Society addresses. Or does NKF also sees a need to build up reservers for cancer patients too ? Already we see the NKF cancer show clashing with the Singapore Cancer Society's cancer show.

Like our Minster of Health says giving for charity should go on, it is for the donor to decide after checking which one to give to. Full text go read the papers.

I fully agreed with ellery.
With such a huge reserve, they can take in all kidney patients in S'pore.
If Duari is such a great guy(working in NKF for more than 20yrs, 13hr per day , 7 days per week) as some claims. And so concern abt patients under NKF, why would he still accepts the 12mth bonus? He can jolly well do without these bonuses & direct those cash to better use. eg Subsidies more on each patient or take in more patient.

As a NON-PROFIT group, priority goes to 'MAKE EVERY CENTS' received through donation counts. Dun compares this with MNC.
Thus, if Durai or any NFK staffs think that they deserved to get high pay cum bonuses, cos they work long hr & hard, then pls go work for MNC.

If NKF is willing to be transparent on their spendings(High salaries, bonuses, 1st class travel, 8 cars etc) to the public & the public still willing to donate, I rest my case.

Wondering :

NKF uses patient to ask for donation. Why can't patient go on TV and ask NKF to fully support them after knowing so much $ they having? And also, patient can go on TV to ask NKF CEO to step down and future donation need to declare how been use? NKF patient go on strike if those are not done and they rather die than paying n still suffering. Make this issue known to worldwide that such things are happening?

But wait, this is sg, ppl are KS, just sign petition, cancel donation etc... If what I wonder is happening, I think things will be done asap. :)

"Get high pay or reasonable pay" is "ok" cos they oso need a living and more over it not an easy job too.

It all abt how they use the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$........ Btw, it just the management has the major problem. I believe those who work in those care centre are truly go all out to help as they seen the pentient everyday.

I HOPE OUR GOrVERMENT DUN LET US DOWN.

I'm also involved in voluntary work and activities in school. But I don't see the motive of charity in NKF.. looking at the pay.. it's top 10 % income in Singapore i think..!!

Singaporeans, let's wake up! Stop the lucky draw nonsense, and condemn NKF and the way of drawing donations!!

They did...........with Peanuts.

HAHAHA Good one.
This saga really craete a new meaning to peanuts.
$600K Peanuts.
Now I am inspire to take more photos of peanuts and dedicated to NKF + this GOH cabo. Who is she anyway??

on second thoughts....mr durai SHOULD NOT resign as CEO of NKF. in that way, NKF will henceforth receive zero donations from the public and the other charities will benefit from disgruntled former-NKF-donors. with mr durai continuing at the helm of NKF, public anger will remain unabated and public calls for a full investigation and inquiry into the remuneration packages of all the other NKF directors will be brought into the spotlight for some long overdue public scrutiny. in a strange way, mr durai will act as the catalyt for greater transparency in singapore.

Sigh... Damn the 'Peanuts' Comments. I really disappointed with her.
Now, make me suspect our government's transparency as well.
She should have put it in a diplomatic way. Now indirectly making the government look bad, especially SM Goh.

that's the flip side of the coin

Nisa, I like your spirit. Are you very emotionally attach to NKF and the good cause they are doing? If yes then you are in a denial stage of this whole episode. If not then are you using reverse psychology to vent your anger.

I'm more trouble trying to figure out what have peanuts got to do with that elaborate bathroom. It might be a scary revelation that cause him to drop the case.

in the same vein, mrs goh should continue as patron of NKF. together with her blue-eyed boy, TT durai, they can continue to show the rest of the singapore public (most of whom don't earn peanuts) very clearly the true colours of NKF and the people leading it. how wonderful for the other charities who can now look forward to a windfall in donations.

three cheers for mrs g and mr d!!!
