Yes, I believe a lot of the money goes to helping patients in need.

It appears that there are concerns which needs addressing, by the public's reckoning, but I wonder ... just how 'needy' does a patient need to be before receiving help, and to what degree?

Much has been said about the middle-income groups and plights in different public and private discussions ...

An opinion, it may be much better off being really poor, or really rich.

BTW, do you know what is the salary of Bill Gates? About US$120k == S$205k. What about the President of the US? US$400k == S$680k

Went to the NKF website. Notice that it is clear from it how are the subsidies structured based on one's salary. Instead, the whole website appears to be targeting donars with all the info on what NFK does,...etc. It should definitely focus more on its true "clients", which are the patients and not the donors

NKF will survive even if we all stop donations for many years. I stopped donations to NKF years ago, based on the information I was getting from people, and later on the Straits Times article in question.

I found the comments made by the NKF patron in today's Straits Times extremely disturbing:

Her Comments on Mr Durai's salary.
"For a person who runs a multi-million dollar charity organisation, $600,000 is peanuts as it has a few hundred millions in reserves"


Her comments on NKF's lack of transparency and deliberate misleading of the public.
"Why make a fuss out of it"


No corruption in Singapore? In any other company the CEO will probably be looking at jailtime for fraud! :dunno:

according to fellow cser, admin position in NKF gets bonus every 3 month, is that justifiable?

as the saying goes, upper level not striaght, lower level also bend.

of cause they have to pay them bonus every 3 month to make them happy so they will not spill the beans. which company in the market pays this well, not to mention pass 3-5 years economics has been bad.

I think they should do something to appease the public that felt they were shortchanged on thier kindness by donating. If this happened in other countries, I believe there would be demostrations already. Lucky SG is more civilised and cultivated not to voice opinions in public except forums..

I made a small donation to the NKF about 3 years ago and from that point on, I've been receiving solicitations through the mail regularly. I figured that an organisation which can spend so much on postage and creating fancy literature to ask for money does not really deserve any more of my hard earned cash. One can already see that the funds are being misspent just from looking at the size of the letters they send asking for $$.

Perhaps the courts should ask Durai how much is spent on postage and printing costs alone in a year.

Same goes for me. I have stopped donating to NKF years back after initially donating and then receiving fanciful mails soliciting for donations. I would rather give to the other charities.

I am still donating $30/mth, but after hearing yesterday's news now I am really having second thoughts. Really felt sad for the patients. So how do I terminate my monthly contribution ? Call them ?

Are you doing through GIRO? if so can call your bank to cancel and stop the donations.
