For NKF's case, I don't think so...if a charitable organisation can allow their top management to have such a high pay, --- taken out by Virgo ---, road tax paid for, afford a $990 tap in his 'personal' washroom suite, of course NOT!

erm, you wanna watch what you write here. they travel first class (on other airlines) only if the price is below that of SIA's business class.

That my friend, is a good question. NKF being such a transparent and above the board charity organisation should reveal how much it's paying it's board members, one by one.......................

The board of directors should further be interviewed and asked why they approve Mr Durai's pay packet. The issue doesn't just stop with Durai. It reflects on the entire board.

Well, who cares about that dude. So long is a sure earn $ thing. ;p

But NKF decided to drop the case, guess we will never know

Than again, in Ah Q spirit, what you dont know dont hurt right?

Like the great Davinder Singh says, "'The man who earns $1,000 a month who donates $50... every month thinking that it is going to save lives, should they not know that that is the kind of money you earn?'

It is for this reason that full disclosure of the entire board's fees should be stated. You know, 2 out of 3 Singaporeans donate to the NKF in one way or another, shouldn't they deserve to know? Of course I think this ratio will soon change ;)

Yes yes. 3 cheers for SPH.

It shows that NKF bully tactics back fired. When suing the individuals, they have deep pockets. Now they meet their match and was out done.

:sticktong :sticktong :sticktong for NKF and their management.

LOL! For years, I've been telling my wife that I felt that the patients were like hostages while watching the charity show. Their faces and stories kept flashing on the screen to ask for help.. and I've no choice but to donate to a organisation that I disliked.

Till the directors and CEO being replaced, and the organisation being restructed for more transparency, I'll say "NO!" to NKF.

Not only that, I think Davinder has been extremely sarcastic and entertaining! He has offered very good value leh.

Stop donating to NKF long time ago.

Now concentrate on The School Pocket Fund.

i wonder who decides to pay for Mr Durai's expenses and on what grounds?
those who receive director fee. Don't fall off your chair when they reveal the director fee.

I don't get something... the lawsuit was initiated by the NKF against SPH and its writer. The only reason why Durai is at the witness stand is because of his own doing. I'm surprised that the NKF didn't see all this coming before taking the decision to escalate the case due to a bruised ego.

None of these alarming facts would have come to the public eye if the NKF just backed down. The ST article in question was probably forgotten by most people by now. ...

Durai has been sueing people successfully. Morever the court case takes time. However, the most important reason has been reported in the ST cos he thought his case was based just on the first 6 paragraphs of the article concerning the gold tap and he panicked

An excerpt from the ST article

In his opening statement, Senior Counsel Davinder Singh accused Mr T.T. Durai of being 'fast and loose' with the numbers.

In court, he asked Mr Durai if he was aware that it was Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) case that NKF, under his management, has been less than transparent about its financial affairs.

Mr Durai said he was. But he disagreed with the lawyer's assertion that he had tried to block information from the public.

Mr Singh mentioned several occasions when Mr Durai had not played straight with the SPH defence lawyers, including the constantly changing positions the plaintiffs had taken in the case.

The lawyer said: 'You thought that you could control the way this action will be run by picking on certain meanings in your statement of claim.'

But when Mr Durai learnt of SPH's defence, he 'embarked on a strategy to prevent information coming out'.

The statement of claim had said the plaintiffs would refer to the entire article for the full meaning and innuendo of the first six paragraphs.

But Mr Durai panicked when he realised that the defence would also base its case on the article as a whole, said Mr Singh, and bring into issue matters concerning 'your air travel, the manner in which you have represented your finances, the salaries that senior staff including you get out of public donations'.

He then changed his position in his affidavit to say that the rest of the article was irrelevant

You should read the court transcripts and you'd understand why this is a point of contention with many.

despite all the facts and figures and reportage, interestingly there are still people willing to put their hardearn money into NKF

I'd like to listen to the 2 guys who have voted "Yes" so far and understand what makes them want to continue donating.

If this is true, it is indeed very disheartening.

This reminds of the G8 meeting on Africa. So far millions of USD has been streaming into Africa for the past 20 years but the people at the bottom claimed that their lives never improved over these 20 years. They don't even know what is a G8.

Where did the money go?

A lot of Western aid money (I'd say the bulk of it) actually goes back to the donating countries ;) This is one of the dirty not-so-secret secrets of so-called aid money.

They return back to the donating countries in the form of expensive consultant fees, and paying their own suppliers.

Which is why the better aid organizations are saying that if Western governments are actually serious about giving aid money, they should give it to them to disburse.

Of course, the other part is that money that's channeled to governments in the various countries, often get, how do you say, creatively disbursed...... :bsmilie:

i will never donate to a charity organize which pay their ceo $25k a month n 10 to 12 month of bonus.
