For the time being, NKF will patients will not suffer even if donations stop coming in.
A true test of NKF will be if they do not get enough funds for the year and they still use their reserves of S$189M to help their paitents something, which I'm sure they will, and must do.
That's why I stopped donating to them and channel my donations to others like Ren Ci Hospital who, also appear on TV for donations, and are still able to raise $5m+ without lucky draws.
From what I know, NKF patients have to use up all their monies before NKF will help them. Ren Ci only charge their hospital patients around $18/- a day for bed, med. and treatment reguardless of who or how rich you are. This is what I consider true charity.

Don't you think this S$100 over million will go to investment too? :think:Maybe not all.

Yes, aren't the patients the VIPs of the fund anyway?? And they dare to show old couples who can barely pay for the fare to attend dialysis... super hypocrites :thumbsd:

Probably damage control. If one person can get 50K a year, how about those who approved of it? Seems like its just a tip of the ice berg... I won't be surprised if this will be hushed a week from now.

The court also heard the NKF had a fleet of eight cars and drivers, which Mr Durai and its visiting guests and VIPs could use.

Even MNC that I work for (Fortune 500 company some more) also dont have such thing!!

NKF also paid for the road tax, repair and maintenance for Mr Durai's personal Mercedes Benz.

Why should NKF pay for his personel stuff?

If this is true, it is indeed very disheartening.

This reminds of the G8 meeting on Africa. So far millions of USD has been streaming into Africa for the past 20 years but the people at the bottom claimed that their lives never improved over these 20 years. They don't even know what is a G8.

Where did the money go?

Well, at least NKF has dialysis centres in every corner on this island. They have done alot to educate people on the Kidney Illness and currently, they are enlarging their ability to educate people on Cancer.

However, that still does not justify the lavish spendings on their new headquarters. 25k/month as salary is the norm but 12 months bonus leaves a ?. The news report also mentioned that TT Durai has got another CEO position in another company while he was serving in NKF. If the management is abusing their power, they should be stopped but the sick cannot have their treatment stopped.

Please dont stop donating. If you are not comfortable to donating to NKF, choose other charities but do not stop donating because you never know when there is a day that you need to count on other's donation.

Well since NKF gets 100% of its revenue via public donations, I guess its safe to say that EVERYTHING is paid from the calls and cheques of the public

If NKF runs its organisation as a business, they might have an investment trust department that is allocated a certain percentage of their funds for investment to boast their profits. (I'm not sure. Permitted under our Laws for charitable organisation?)

I made a small donation to the NKF about 3 years ago and from that point on, I've been receiving solicitations through the mail regularly. I figured that an organisation which can spend so much on postage and creating fancy literature to ask for money does not really deserve any more of my hard earned cash. One can already see that the funds are being misspent just from looking at the size of the letters they send asking for $$.

Perhaps the courts should ask Durai how much is spent on postage and printing costs alone in a year.

yah... i've stopped my monthly contributions long ago and still received their damn SMSes. the latest is the NKF Cancer crap.

For NKF's case, I don't think so...if a charitable organisation can allow their top management to have such a high pay, road tax paid for, afford a $990 tap in his 'personal' washroom suite, of course NOT!

i think the NKF is rich enough. if they can pay their top man a large amount of money, then they can afford to operate without our money.

but those profit are meant for charity work right? Should it be spend on 8 cars & salary for 8 drivers?

whats more do they get 8 VVIP visit everyday, 24/7?

imagine they need 8 cars for that, than where do they bring them for food? how much per person? And everything else? How much?

That my friend, is a good question. NKF being such a transparent and above the board charity organisation should reveal how much it's paying it's board members, one by one.......................

The board of directors should further be interviewed and asked why they approve Mr Durai's pay packet. The issue doesn't just stop with Durai. It reflects on the entire board.
