Hi Bro,

Nah.... my info old liao... kekeke.... once rebranding, everything change... especially the room rates.
How much you pay for the deluxe BV, it use to cost only USD290++ during my visit there in 2005. Now At least 2~3 fold ba:bigeyes:
but at 300sqm in area.... the Conrad deluxe BV is still one of the best in room category as compare to other resort! ;)

Kekeke.... I just came back from Maldives also from 6th ~ 14july... I went to W-resort & Spa this time round.. will share pics when got time.
Already start missing Maldives.... Will start planning and saving soon for next trip as well.!!

:)

Yeah room rates not cheap..... but nevertheless these are the off-peak season rates
Deluxe Beach Villa - 925usd++
Deluxe Water Villa - 1400usd++

The Deluxe Water Villa is excellent with 24hrs personal butler service and buggy service. I went to Mandhoo Restaurant for dinner, and was ferried there by the butler on a buggy. And just when I had finished my meal, the waiter called the butler to come and pick me up. Fantastic service, super excellent.....

W-resort also nice eh? Part of the starwood group. I saw the W-lounge at Male airport, very nice, with sandy beaches at the lounge. How much are the rates for W-resort?

wow... beautiful sharp images with nice vibrant colour!
Nicely done... like travel brochure!
So jealous... possible to share how much u spend and the details of the package?
Can pm me if not convenient here... ;)

Cheers!

For direct flights, only SQ flies to Male International Airport from Singapore. Flight timing is not very favourable though as you will be arriving in Male late at night, almost midnight. As seaplanes don't operate at night, this means u will need to put up an accomodation at Male Town. Flight cost for return tickets is about S$1200nett.

I chose Cathay Pacific so that I can do a side trip to Colombo as well. Return flight tickets to Colombo by Cathay is at S$410nett. Then bought tickets for Sri Lanka Air from Colombo to Male for another S$410nett.

Seaplane from Male Airport to the resort is US$315nett. This one no choice, as they are the only operator in Maldives. There are 2 seaplane companies operating ALL the seaplanes in Maldives, but they are under 1 owner, so you don't have a choice.

Hotel rates can be found here... different rates for different period. You get to choose full board or half board too.

Overall, be prepared to set aside about S$10k for 2 pax for a 5 nights trip at the resort including air tickets, seaplane, hotel, meals, spa, watersports, etc.....

Awesome Pics Paul. Wonder where u had disappeared to :)
Two Thumbs UP from me :):thumbsup:

Yo bro,

Yes indeed conrad is getting more ex. From USD290 in 2005, to about USD400 in 2006 n USD540 in 2007 n now USD900++. Really scary!:what:
Aiya should have told u... should go visit the sunset water villa in Conrad. If it's not occupied, they might upgrade u at a special rate(but offcourse that time our rates is really low, as compare to urs). We've been upgraded to that during our 2005 trip. 24hrs Bulter, buggy plus speedboat for use...

W-hotel is a much smaller island... walk 1 round maybe 7mins ba....haa. I stay 4 nites in their Ocean oasis, 4 nites in their beach oasis(with a buy 6 give 7 nites promo), with seaplane it's USD6536 nett. Per nite rates is cheaper than Conrad for sure...However during launch in 2006, it's about 2X the rate... I think nobody bite ba...thus have to lower.

Actually I prefer Conrad's beach villas, more spacious n useful space. W beach villa is a 2 storey one.. we seldom use the upper deck. Wat a waste. W Ocean oasis chic looking la.. with plunge pool, day bed etc on deck.... Conrad ones the other hand super cosy room loh....
Conrad uses slightly up-market stuff in their room, i.e soap, shampoo, bath tub, basin etc.... but W got the most comfy bed ever. Conrad ones already superb though.
But I really miss Conrad's large island, lots of space... lots of different restaurant, free teabreak at 5pm also la....I only hated Conrads house reef...practical dead during my 2005 visit. How about now?

So bro.... u suffering from withdrawal symdrome still??? Kekekeke.... when u came back? :)

2005 prices are low cos of the Tsunami disaster in Dec 2004. Some resorts are damaged and people fear Tsunami will strick again.

Yeah, too bad I didn't get a chance to visit the Sunset Water Villa. Rates are about US$4000+ for the Sunset Water Villa during off peak season now. However I heard that rates will go up to about US$8000 next year during peak after some renovations. Renovations include having a glass swimming pool under the water villa where you can swim around seeing fishes and reefs and not be carried away by the water currents!

The way you described the island for W hotel seemed like its so small. Yes, I think I like the Deluxe Beach Villa too, the spacious room is wonderful. Just that the Water Villa has more luxury items in the room, plus better service. I find the housekeeper very poor thing.... he takes more than an hour to make up the room considering the size, and the amount of things he need to do. Furthermore they do not have a housekeeping trolley like city hotels do, they use wheelbarrows to transport linens, amenties, etc to the room. Even room service guys have to send food via the food buggy, and when its raining, the poor guys have to take special care to ensure that my food and tray are not wet.

I didn't snorkel at the house reef but I went for a dive at the Mihiri Dropoff. Currents are pretty strong at the Indian Ocean during this time where the NW monsoon is. Not that favourable for diving at this time.

Yeap still dreaming of my holidays.... but still have to work nevertheless. I'm back on 20th, and you?

Ya bro.. u are absolutely right. ppl are scare of Tsunami during 2005 period, rates are all time low, so does the SQ flight rate. Guess tat those days are gone eh.
Glass swimming pool eh!... they use to have a dug up swimming pool there... guess it dun work becos current is pretty strong there.
Ya... the deluxe BV is consider the best, biggest one around in Maldives, at least for the 2 person stay type la. Love to visit there again...
yeah.. know wat u mean on the house keeper.... using wheel barrows... I gave the poor chap USD10 when moving our stuff from BV island all the way to the water villa....tough job. In turns of staff welfare... I think W hotel staff are generally more happy.... yes. because no matter where they go, they drive buggy.

Mirihi resort got much better house reefs, drop off than hilton for sure..... never dive at Mirihi dropoff but still remember my 2 dives there around hilton was tiring, strong undercurrent, and have difficulty climbing up the dive boat due to strong wave as well. So..... Big different diving in Maldives vs Malaysia eh... got fruits, towel, ppl carry gears for u, just run off to villa after each dive eh!
You can try diving around W next time round.... IMHO, best reef I ever seen la... but funny thing, lack of those big fishes(tuna, sharks etc), dun know why.

Haizz... I'm back on the 15th July la.... ever since... still dream about there. Yeah you are right, still have to work, else how to save enuff to visit such a wonderful place again eh!
Eh bro, you got facebook? I'm trying to link up a Maldives goer group there.... for future traveller, to share resources, photos, ideas, resort, where to book etc.

Opss... paisay, shldn't talk so much on ur thread.... nevertheless, wonderful photos... on a marvellous resort

Cheers! :)

Made me want to drop all my projects and go there now. :D

Oh yeah I like the service of the Diving Centre. Basically they do everything for u, you only need to be there on time for the dive session, dress up, jump in, dive and come up.... Drinks/Coffee/Tea/Fruits are served while they take care of all the equipments for you. Once the boat dock, you just need to get off and that's it.... no need to carry this and that, unmount this and that, etc!

I'll pm u my facebook contacts.

Very nice series.
