Hi Timo, congrats to you for your perfect timing today. You managed to get the last piece. I was there at 12pm and bought the second last piece.

By the way, it is not advisable to post prices and where to get this lens cheap in this thread. (Try the consumer corner, or they (admin) may close this thread if it goes out-of-topic.) This thread is for posting pictures taken with the 35mm and also to discuss its capabilities and limitations, etc... so... I guess we should start poisoning the members here by posting some of the photos.

Cheers and have fun with your new lens.

To think that Recommended Retail Price is $399.

Shops are selling at a premium. Think this len is really worth getting.

I have also got my lense yesterday from SLS edison... Today Alan photo also call me cos their new stock just arrive. Perhaps if you are really interested in getting then i think it's better to reserve with them. :D Price very resonable...;p

Hi everyone,

I had a great chance to test out the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 a while back when a very nice friend lent me his lens. I took quite a few test shots and this was one of them:

Now, it would not be a good way to compare both lens this way, when the lighting/angle/distance are different. I can't recall if the blinds were drawn up for the Sigma shot but it is raining today and the sun is blocked.
So this was another test shot using the Nikon 35mm f/1.4:

In my opinion, the Nikon lens is definitely sharper than the Sigma and the bokeh is as good. I just noticed and quite like how the clock face ended up with very nice "marble" (a.k.a. goh-lee)-face. Although if the photos taken by the Nikon lens always end up this way with "goh-lee" face for clocks, I may not like the idea of a clock face not like a clock face. ;p

Random test when I just bought it, taken at F/2.2

can someone post some shot of outdoor without bokeh ?

I need more poison.....

hi bro... liked to check on oyur 2 photos... are they taken at the same setting but only with different lens??? coz i find the colour contrast different... nikon color sharper... but then, i prefer the sigma bokia.... less distracting.... sorry... just my view on thbe difference...

i think the 2 photos are not comparable because the 2nd phot is out of focus... the color make no difference coz PS cant do the correction, but focus issue is hard to edit

can anyone advice which f stop will be the "sharpest" for landscape photos on this 35mm f/1.8G lens ? thanks

From dpreview, sharpness looks fine all the way up till f8. At f11, sharpness seems to drop quite a bit and more after that so I would say f11 is the max :)

i just called AP and CP
they all ran out of stock for this. =[

anyone knw where gt stock ? =[[[[

I saw one at CP(P) yesterday afternoon :bsmilie: keep on calling them to check on stock availability OR you can "reserve" one with them

Yup, you can reserve one with Cathay if you want. They will call you when stock arrive. I got mine last week from Cathay and really love it. I also have problem sometime with getting the sharp focus. I use it mostly to take pictures of my kids. But with aparture wide open, the depth of field is too narrow to take active children:)

I got one in the US for 325 a couple of weeks back, used it in cambodia last week. will post some shots later tonight. :)

I was lucky to get mine overseas and being the college photographer, have been using it for a variety of events. I'm very pleased with it as the pictures are a lot sharper and have less distortion than the 18-105 VR kit lens. Here are some sample pics ranging from macro shots to low light situations.
