I have a very small question.

When they mention 35mm, it would become 52.5mm on a cropped body like a D90 but if they mention 35mm DX, would it be 35mm on a cropped body still? The 35mm DX F/1.8 G is said to mimic a naked eye's view which should be 50mm. Hope someone could clarify this.

Thanks.

No, the crop factor still applies to DX lens. So the effective focal length will still be 52mm.

any hints on when it'll hit sg shores? :)

pretty much what the other guy said. 52mm equivalent(almost field vision on normal eye) - both the 35mm f1.8 dx and the 35mm f2 on dx bodies.

i can't wait for this to come out. provided it is going to be cheap. has to be, please.

Does it mean if I get this new 35mm would be an overkill since I have an excellent AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G lens?

depends after all the new 50 f1.4 G is a full frame lens while then new 35mm is meant for DX camera.

Focal length never changes, only effective field of view ;) It's been explained verbatim in another thread so I won't bore you with details.

Today is the day of launch and seems that the lens is sold out in some online shops in Japan....that's scary.

oh my. very little hope of me getting one before june then.

Me too..was hoping to get one b4 May for an assignment...

Wow...was wondering when I will ever save enough for a AFS 50mm F1.4 now this AFS 35mm F1.8 seems a more affordable option for my little D60. Great job Nikon! Now to find the actual street price of this little baby.

Wonder if any other shops other than Lords has it...Nikon Singapore never states the release dates in Singapore....

Thanks for the info :)
I'm also wondering what's the price like in SG. Would it be the same, $350?

not sure is i see correctly. Nikon Japan selling around 35000 yen? so which means over here will be ard S$500??

35000 yen is the retail price, but it's actually selling for around 29800 in big shops, and 26500 in smaller shops and online shops, which means around 400....still a bit high...

It's already been sold in Hong Kong and mainland China. Price is around 300 SGD. Hope the price not too high in Singapore.
