[ Compiled Info ] - Cool accessories for EP1/2, GF1 and other m4/3 cameras

Have some faith in online purchasing lah guys, I bought a few, so far, nothing happens, at most 1 day late :):)

Hey guys I am heading over to Hong Kong in 2 weeks, any place where I can pick up some m43 accessories for my GF-1?

Went to the camera stores opposite Miramar on my last trip, nothing much there.

m43 cameras and accessories are not very common in HK. AFAIK, for a 1-stop shopping, go to Mongkok Computer Centre (Mongkok MTR).

hi, can you all share with me what tripod are you using? not the Gorillapod kind of tripod, but an actual tripod, looking for a light tripod and not too bulky, purpose is for landscape and group photos  also, is there any something like remote shutter release for Olympus E-PL1? thanks :D

I'm using Sirui tripod now, really not bad and compact, bought 1 at TK Photo for $160, there's another $120 model

+1 for Sirui tripods.

I'm using Sirui T1005x, it's excellent, T series is traveller series which can fold the legs 180o for more compactness.

I'm also looking at the Velbon Ultrek series, even more compact and taller, For Velbon, something has to give for it's thinner legs. Though, i think it's also ok for m43 with kit lens which are usually quite light.

There's a good review here on clubsnap on Sirui:

You can also head down to TK foto and test it, folks there are friendly and knowledgeable.

I also have the gorillapod-slr when it's really diff to bring tripod, it can be very useful at times, provided can find the right support & height for it.

EPL1 does not support remote shutter, only EP2,EPL2...

Thanks rwhite and wonglp, I will find time to go to TK Foto this weekend and test the Sirui tripods :D

+1 too on the Sirui T1005x, includes a good ballhead (at least while new, only time will tell).

Compact and sturdy for an m4/3 size camera ... replaces my $35 tripod which fell apart ;p

Actually I saw Wonglp using the T1005XX during our outings, thats why i bought it, hahaha, so must really thanks Wong :bsmilie::bsmilie:

My only complain about this tripod that its is not high enough, overall, a very good tripod for m4/3 users :):)

Go and test the Slik Sprint Pro II GM ($140.00) at Cathay. Its quite high and light for its height. The bottom section of the centre column can be screwed out to give a very low height if needed. I bought a used unit ($90.00) as my second tripod for travelling.

Haha, i was poisoned from others in the forum too, so must spread the poison too;) The velbon ultrek is sufficiently good too, just the ballhead not so adequate, if couple with Sirui G10 b/h will be an excellent travelpod. folded length is very much shorter, good to put inside normal backpack.

was eyeing this before the sirui, but find the folded length too long for my bag so went for sirui.

Is anyone using the Ciesta leather case for EP2? Any feedback on this? Are the buttons hard to reach within the cut-out at the back of the case?

no doubt this is for PEN, but the cut-out can be quite "tight", as in, very close to the buttons; that's my concern :)

The one for my E-PL1 did not, I think you have to buy it separately ... other stuff this seller sells -> http://shop.ebay.com/pricejin/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562

I don't use a neckstrap (although I have some DIY ones), but rather a wrist strap/hand grip, so it's fine for me.

I also like how the tripod screw is flush with the bottom, so bottom is flat and it can sit on its own.
