rhino123, thanks for clarifying my points made up there.
Rough estimation of stuffs to let you have an idea...
- extra battery
~$60 for original, ~30 for 3rd Party (if you can get online, prob it will cost ~20 for
3 phottix batt)
- tripod (
do a search and you can find many topics on recommended ones and tips of selecting one)
Got 2 types, Carbon Fiber and Aluminum. Normally Alum ones are heavier but cost lesser than CF ones. The recommended alum tripods are normally in the range of ~180 and above. I have issues trusting the flimsy ones that are given free with the camera. If you happen to own it, extend it to full and mount ur dslr on it and see if you are comfortable with it.
- Camera Bag.
depending on what you get, can be from $50. Alternatively you can get padded inserts, much cheaper ~$20-30.
This is the free one given by Canon. Can hold a DSLR attached with a lens. If the attached lens is short, you can find a tiny space to put another 1 lens. (my 18-55 and 55-250 can barely fit into the bag) You will need to squeeze if you attach a battery grip to the body.
- Dry Cabinet.
This is almost a must, unless you can stand changing/monitoring silica gel every few days or every week with a dry box. Cheapest at ~100+ (check out digi cabi 036L, you can also find it in NTUC extra)
Check out the price guides in CS to see the list of recommended shops to get your stuffs. For the battery, check out the mass sales or the online shops. If you want the prices for these stuffs, give the shops a call. They will always have the LATEST price.
Edit: Forget to say that the 8gb free SD card given free by Canon, you will have to redeem it at the Canon Digital Lab @ Harbourfront (Monday to Saturday, 11am - 9pm (closed on public holidays)
