?compact cam-can zoom while recording?

Hi,
i'm exploring getting a simple compact camera that i can carry everywhere to record videos with sound.
these are my 2 criteria:

1) a camera that can zoom whilst recording.
2) the recording should preferrably be in mpeg4 or h.264 format ('cos smaller file size compared to mjpeg).

anyone know of such models that fit these criteria?

Zoom while recording is just about everywhere. Just about everybody can do it.

Do you want the video in HD or SD? There are some pretty good choices in both categories.

Look up camcorderinfo.com. They have just about everything that you might need there.

Read the reviews, then simultaneously look at retail websites to roughly gage the prices. FYI camcorder prices are lower in US than in Singapore for high end models, but at the range you are asking for I'm not sure.

actually i'm looking for a digital compact camera that can do video recording (and also zoom whilst recording).
Sorry if it wasn't clear in the original post.

Know of any such cameras? i only know of 2 - casio exilim v7 & v8, but can't find them on sale anywhere anymore.

so far, all the canon cameras that i used are capable of doing this..you can try out ixus 870is.. it's can zoom while recording..

Try the Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1010! It's compact, small and it can zoom while recording.
This camera is using SD card for storage.
