Hiee Pals...
Mirror flip damping is it self a whole world of its own.
So Far, only high end Pro camera offer Mirror Lock-up (Usually lever activated mirror lock up)
for optimised sharpness (letting the camera flip the mirror up and then allow the shutter curtain to open without having to be haunted by vibrations from mirror flipping action.
Use long lens and you know why you might need them.
Example shot, using mirror lockup(2sec). My friend who runs on the canon system who did not offer the mirror lock up had problem getting this image sharp.
- i had AS turned off BTW. If i dont use mirror lock up - the image will be blurred due to mirror flip.
KMinolta offer the 2sec mirror flip confidently (since Dynax 7 days) - and i swear by it.
It really works. Confidently they provide this function as they know their system (intenals) would have really "silent" for the shot - able to dissipate all stry vibraitons for minimal vibration just within this 2sec timing window.
Mirror flap - sound as we all now is energy. It have to go somewhere. If you dampen the sound, it will go to your internals. I'm not surprise, if the Sony person gave the reason as such: (well its just claims.....)
"read something like this, but slightly different. the explanation is that they don't want to damp the mirror and reduce the sound, because this transfers the vibration to the body and sensor, and affects the working of the anti-shake. true or not i dunno lah."
