Coming F1 boat shoot

Hi,
Just want to gather some info on the coming F1 boat shoot this Saturday..
I presume the default mode setting for the camera should be speed priority..

1. What is the normal speed setting for F1 boat shoot?
2. For panning.. what is the normal shutter speed?

I think there is no fixed rule for this. If the sky is overcast the whole settings can change dramatically.

Just a suggestion...

You might want to do some trial run by doing panning on cars along our roads first. That should be able to give you some idea what settings to use.

I used 1/800 - 1/1000 to freeze the action for my shots last year.
Panning is possible between 1/80 and 1/250.

For telephoto lens you can use higher shutter speeds to pan, WA lens will have to use slower shutter speeds.
