No interesting stuff. Only a couple of display sets to play, the rest all PnS/Optios. Also some pentax lenses on display but not for sale. FA77, DA40, Fisheye, FA43 etc. Ha. 3-4k if it's good, i dun mind saving and buy. Ha.

Any showgirls there so we can shoot?

only see the usual ladies at the Sony stand, the Panasonic booth has some cute ones too ;)

Was there again this evening to get an external drive and a digital voice recorder (Olympus)

500GB for $253 at Chamoxa (Fujitsu Brand, 3 yrs warranty)

woot my sister-in-law got her k200d package for $1099~ "early bird" discount wor.

Aiya, it's COMEX, and as always Pentax is always represented by some shops which will be pricing themselves above the typical norm.

Maxtor 1 terabyte HD for $299...

u mean me? it's 300 off the 1399 leh...

There were alot of "first" here for Pentax.
1. Biggest Stand I have seen for Pentax
2. Biggest crowd. There are actually alot of people crowding around checking out the cameras. One guy even bought a PnS in front of me. The fact that the salespeople were quite aggressive in pushing sales help. It was like you check out the camera and they keep on saying "ok, sir?". "I take one set for you now, Sir?". etc
3. First time I see they employed some MCs to generate some interest. But no models...in fact except for a few dressed up ladies giving out brochures here and there, there were no models around for phototaking.

I can't make up my mind yet, so will wait till 8pm on Sunday to squeeze out the last minute bargains. ;)
I was looking at the E50 but they kept on pushing the Z10 to me instead. Even Kelvin who was there strongly recommended it as value-for-money. That's because this camera was $499 normal retail price now selling at $199.

But I think in terms of performance it will not be much different from the $169 E50. The price difference is attributed to the fact the camera is able to perform simple photo editing in-camera, including cropping, contrast, brightness, etc. Plus its more sleek. But that thick lens cover is a turn off though. Wonder why it had to be so thick, not consistent with the rest of the slim body. I am stuck between the $139 fuji A850, Pentax E50 or Z10. The fuji is slimmer and cuter, which my kid would like...will wait till sunday to see how is the closing pricing and stocking level.

The 200mm lens looked interesting with that huge hood but Kelvin was called away, so I did not manage to check it out...

BTW, no one mentioned Samsung. They booked an entire corner to show their range and had their GX20 on sale. The moment they realised the K20D also selling at $2200+, they immediately dropped threir prices by $100! But overall, the pentax is more worth it. At $2299, you get an additional 75-300 lens whereas Samsung provides for a spare battery instead.

For lenses.... man...they are earning the same reputation as Sony...the prices of the lenses are so C-ish or sonyish... A 35mm F2 is $729. Their 16-45mm is $819. And the 18-55mm kit lens is $329! night86mare's favourite length, the 12-24 F4 is $1399!

wow..your sister-in-law must be very lucky to have gotten such a good discount on Day2!
Usually they start slashing pirces only on last day. OP may be lower but I'd rather pay a little more for assured fuss-free warranty coverage by shriro. And that 75-300mm helps make it more shiok too:bsmilie: Congrats on the deal....

yeah it was a v good deal I thought. Basically it was the E520 or this, and at $500 or 50% difference...... lol

It was a good deal with kit lens and 75-300.

I am paiseh to say I didn't know how to operate the GX20... ;p
Couldn't find ISO or liveview anywhere on the cam without digging into the menus...

Just hoot a Fuji a a850 for 139
Plus a lot of freebies hahahahaa
its a steal, IQ is good for everyday use :)

pro-er means more ex le... 3-4K pentax body not many will buy... maybe FW :bsmilie:

I won't buy a body that's more than $2500SGD :) Firstly I'm not that rich, secondly I don't think I'd pay a body for more than the cost of a FA*80-200 ;)

Cheers!

Got my Acer 4925G with dedicated Graphics for $1250 instead of $1298 from the big acer booth.

Pentax is a good cam. Hope that more ppl get interested in the brand.

I saw some decent deals from Toshiba, but none can match the NTU pricing.

I managed to get Toshiba Portege M800 from the NTU store (staff/students only) yesterday with the following specs
T9400, 2.5 GHz, 6MB L2 cache, 1066Mhz FSB
4GB DDR2 RAM
320GB HDD with shock protection
13.3" screen with 1280x800 res
intel X4500HD graphics
built-in 1.3 mp webcam with mic
1.9 kg weight
DVD DL burner
usual array of connectivity options..f/w, usb, BT, Wifi, Gbit lan etc
3 yrs international and local warranty
Vista Business
Adobe Creative Suite 3:)
MS Office 2007
Free 8GB thumb drive
all for SG$1952.75 incl GST:bsmilie::bsmilie:

No COMEX offer comes anywhere close!
Comparable specs would cost easily SG$3k+ outside

Just came back from Comex - it's good to see that Pentax has a full-sized booth of its own and people on stage doing lelong lelong!

Hi

Gigahz :
Yeah lor...I like the design and IQ seems a tad better even if its a low end non-SuperCCD fuji camera. But waiting for last night to see what offers from pentax and fuji first...hahaha :bsmilie:

Fengwei :
Welcome back! :)

skypacker :
These trade fairs cost alot of money to organise, so rentals are also high. So there is no way to get better offers than NTU ones where there is practically no rental cost because they are so called "tie ups", i.e. the NTU allow them to sell to students and in return, they sell it at lower cost.

someone was telling me that today k200d package price dropped to $1099.. not sure if true

if it was, hope the people who was looking at it managed to whack. :)

well...was there to check out the last minute bargains and I must say this is probably shriro's MOST successful outing at a pc exhibition. The stand was always crowded, the 2 DJs were working hard on the special offers. They sold quite a few K200D (yeah! more kakis for me now..;)) but only 1 K20D....

And yes...some of the PnS were actually SOLD OUT !! Especially the Z10 which was selling at $199 (down from retail $400+) This is a good sign. Towards 8pm, Pentax has cut their prices by $60 while Samsung slashed theirs by $100...but Fuji and Sony held out the stated cost to the very last minute..sheesh...
Kelvin was there as usual sharing his views on which camera suited me. The S10 was not bad looking but was not on my radar previously so did not do any research on it. Now that I have done it, regretted not getting it at $239 (last day pricing down from $299). I noticed you can even set focus point too! Its so compact too. May consider hunting for it at SLS and see if I can get the same price.

Anyway, took a shot of Kelvin with the S10..(default, did not do any settings)..and look...a Pentax T-Shirt idea!! I jokingly asked if Pentax stand selling the shirt also and Kelvin only smiled. :)
Also note the rare "Sold Out" label. The E50 price dropped to $139 even for those who were not Best members..and the 2 MCs hard at work squeezing in the last bit of crowd.
