A photographer showing the photos. Wonder if these two uncle happen to be a CS member ? I must say they, both them, were really enthuasitic bunch.

The uncle on the left was at the Wild Wild Wet event to snap snap too...

let me guess, u are just beside me~~~

there were few ppl on my left hand side using p&s to shoot,
are you one of them ?

Went to Comex this afternoon. Interested to look for a P&S camera that can do pretty good macro. Went to Nikon booth and asked for Nikon S5 (or S6, can't remember). I asked what is the closest macro distance. A lady promoter told me about 4cm. Asked her to show me how good can it shoot macro. She failed to even show me a focused shot.

Asked her if her collegue can help to show. She called the guy promoter next to her. The guy promoter took out a $2 notes to show me the macro shooting. Told me the distance is about 1.5cm. No success shot too. Then he told the lady promoter to shot my hair. I am beginning to be very puzzled. Then he told her to zoom in my hair and told me "There....this is the macro mode. It shows how good it can take macro".

I told them right to their face "Kidding me. You are showing me digital zoom!". Both acted dunno (I presumed they acted dunno) and went off to entertain the customers next to me.

Sigh... they are kind of doing Nikon S5/S6 injustice, in my opinion.

I had popped by the Tamron stand to see if they had
anything for the Pentax mounts and this idiot was so
busy chit chatting with a friend and giving them free
pouches that he totally ignored me and another
customer for the 1-2 min we were standing there
waiting. And that was even when I politely said excuse me
too...what a butthead.
I'm most certainly not buying stuff from him in
future.
oddly, I did not see any Sigma booth though.

Of all the salesperson there, the most friendly were
the ones at the Pentax booth. The Canon ones was also ok
but the Nikon one gave me a look when I asked to test the
D80..oh well....the rest was quite neutral.

hmmm all kind of sales, maybe they thought their Tamron product is too good, so too proud of it
But I guess if the boss know about this, certainly wont be happy with this kind sales altitude

i forgot it was teacher's day on friday.. it was crowded.
went in . take brochures and then go home..lol

Well the canon guy from Song brothers gave me a "are you sure, you know how to use" look when i asked to test the 30D, and all the while he was ranting to his customers that 400d was so well received by people this time that they had trouble selling it to everyone who wanted one. Crazy song dude.

I guess what we all did was take snaphots of the salespersons at different time of the day, when they are free, tired, hungry, talkative, etc hence we each have a difference experience with them...

btw, forget about parking there Singapore Expo has a very shameful parking facility. I can't understand why such a large premier hall would have so little lots. You can tell by the extremely long car queues each time there is a popular exhibition. They should have built a multistorey car park and size it to meet the parking needs of 95% of attendees at any time if 100% is not cost effective.
In anycase, drive to T2 carpark. Take the MRT down 1 stop and its much more convenient plus you sure to find lots in T2. ($2 per hour though!) Forget about parking in Bedok or Tanah Merah cos lots are typically non-existent during pc shows...

this thread seem to talk more abt char bo than the actual events, really a chore to wade thru all of it before coming to the more serious topic on cams n stuffs.
I did not see any Sigma booth at the Comex when I dropped in on Thursday afternoon.
The Tamron guy was quite helpful when I was there. (maybe I worn a tie)

Got quite a few good buys, from cartridges, scanner cum printer, portable harddisk casing, oregon clock.

Thought of going down again tonight to get some DL disc.

Usually it is best to do own research and decide.

whoa i think i'm very slow. comex is over already then i stumbled upon this thread.

eh youhong, don't worry lah. won't blacklist you one, and other photographers as long as you all are friendly and don't ask absurd stuff. you know, during the sony a100 launch (remember the photo studio), there was this weird uncle, with loads of big bags (like backpacker like that), he asked me to sit on the floor and pose for him. then when i did that... his eyes were fixed on my skirt can?!?! :faint: :hammer: :flame:

that is just downright scary lah. i dunno whether he is from cs, but from what i remember i don't think he was hanging with the cs photographers.

hee hee, i usually don't reject photo-taking... as long as its not very very long and take non-stop. cos my contacts dry up quite easily lah, so if the photographer keeps on taking, then i keep on blinking... then very odd. haha.

hey guys... can i see more comex photos? :) hee hee. and youhong, i want to see THAT avatar. pm me.

regarding the ring... :sticktong *no comments*
