same same... there's a brothers' promo going on now. their monochrome laser printer is going for $198. but, i'm waiting for the fair and see if either HP or canon are coming out with newer home lasers. :)

I want a 30" ACD

I am get an Dell 24 inch LCD.

I think brother's toner aren't really worth the money. I'm not sure about the situation now but just a few years back, my camp was using one and the toner cartridge change was very frequent.

Apparently, for Brother, you change the toner alone without the cartridge or something along those lines. It works out cheaper BUT the problem is some print issues may occur. Either way, I am not planning to compromise. It'll be HP or Canon for me for monochrome laser printers.

i saw brother printer at the last fair (pc show i think?) the cheapest one is like <150 monochrome with free toner....not sure whether that means 2 toner or just 1 (normally inside have toner or not? i never buy b4 :p)

if have 2 like quite cheap like that ...normal inkjet the cheapest also like say 100? can print colour but if print mainly bnw the monochrome laser seems like not a bad deal? :dunno:

Periodic is relative to how much you use but generally speaking changing the whole drum + toner is better than having 2 separate items since it cuts down on problems with printing in the long run.

Usually if you print a fair bit of text based documents with graphics and have little use for colour then lasers are good.

hmm... yeah. i am going to buy a monochrome laser for text cos i'll be doing a fair bit of assignments in the coming months for my course. so, looks like its either canon or hp then. :)
