The spider did not faint, really I got friends who cannot view (not even on TV and pictures) at spiders, roaches and crawlers, he will scream and run very far away.

Well everyone got there their own camera preference here.
When I zoom in to 1:1 ratio the spider is out of my monitor, I’ve to scroll half of the screen, so I crop those empty area only, not very sure of the %, I’m a dummy.
This fellow is real quite and keep very still

Good. only shows what kind of nature lovers we have in this forum. I am certainly going to do something about moving subjects out of their natural habitat and moving them. The spider might just be dying. In any case, there is a legislation against such actions.

I am not being mean here. After all, we don't get hurt at all. In fact, we stand only to gain from these animals we capture and photograph right? good for you.

Make sure you dun get caught after I alert National parks.

You are presumptious to conclude that the spider Stevenwhy brought to the COMEX is from the Nature RESERVE and assume that it wil be abondoned or left to die.

You also presumed or rather concluded that OTHERS in this forum are lesser NATURE LOVER than you are..... when in doubt do give the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

Let's not assume / presume, where from and what happen to the spider after the shoot, you could have easily clarified with Stevenwhy, before firing from the hip. Nevertheless it is good of you to highlight that removing plants and insects from the Nature reserves is an offence unless you hold a permit to do so... fullstop.

However , let's no get overboard under the banner of conservation, if so we should all be demonstrating outside all the Town Councils in Singapore for fogging their estates to get rid of mossies .... and in the process kill lots of other insects too , spider included.

Anyway, I do understand that in Singapore, even you pluck a leaf of the road side plant and if you were caught, you are entitle for a day jail or so? This is basically because those life out there are not belong to you but NParks and if you bring them home without a valid permit, it is illegal? :think: Please correct me if I am wrong.

Also, there are people keep on telling me that in Singapore, nothing is illegal unless you get caught LAR. :bsmilie:

In my house and on my plants alone I have many species of spiders, praying mantis, leaf or stick insects and quite a lots of other bugs & insects around, maybe more than 20 species I found so far. I’m staying up on the 14th storey and am still wondering why they are up so high, if I’m not wrong many households won’t hesistate to use SHIELDTOX, BAYGONE or roll up NEWSPAPERS to do the inevitable.

Oooh you help clear my doubt on why do lots of bugs, insects and spiders were so high up in my place, is because NEA is doing the fogging, that's why, they are running for their dear life, next time must arm my camera ready for them when they start charging up

Shoot 3 to 4 days a week, 6 to 8 hrs per outing, no lunch most of the time, only some chocolate, ya! I think I fall into the Hardcore shooter categories.
How how how …… to shoot macro with a tiger :dunno:

That you call shallow DOF (Depth of field) is useful for subject isolation.

Steve, I must commend you on your ingenius way of testing out these new cameras. These are excellent shots under the circustances. Did you use their macro lenses with the shots? or did you add your Raynor dioptics with their lenses?

Thanks Richard for the kind words, I think I’m overrated here.

Yes! the only one that I try is pentax 100mm macro lens, is me who is not good behind this lens, the standard kit lens don’t work for me either,
picture #4 was taken with XXmm - 200mm zoom lens, sorry can’t remember the minimum mm, same goes to Nikon.

For Nikon, Picture #3 was taken with XXmm - 200mm zoom lens, the standard kit lens don’t work for me.

The rest of the Camera all was taken with their standard kits lens.

All testing was done with handheld the Olympus A-macro and life size macro filters at the front of the lens and used onboard flash, did not screw on. Hope it helps

Even if one removes a species from its natural habitat and puts it in a box or can or anything, it is wrong. I have adequately answered your question Steve. I have seen this spider, which I like very much, in gardens and nature reserves. More so, nature reserves. Now, my intention is to not to encourage people to capture any insect even if they are found around our neighbourhood.
