Guys, I bought the camera yesterday.
When I turned it On, there was nothing visible in the LCD, except it shows "Full Auto" mode.
Whys is this? Do I have to turn the knob to "Full Auto" mode, then i can get the view in the LCD?
Please advice.

Regards,
Mickey

Hi Mikon,

Did u mean, u are trying to view the "Live view". If the Live view. U need to go to the menu
setting and enable it. After that. u exit from menu, and press the "Set" button at the centre.
Then the live view will activate..to de-activate.. press the set button back. & dun forget to disable it wen not in use..
As i was told by the salesman before..it will suck up ur batt.

Hope what i try to brief here is correct. Its easier if i have my gear here with me now..haha.
U can read thru the manual...They show u.

By the way. EOS 1000D is a DSLR, Hope u dun have the wrong tinking..its not just like the normal compact digital camera. ( where u could see the image when u turn on the camera..hehe, anyway I really find it troublesome with our 1000d Live view(but its ok..i seldom use it). anyway its a good camera. Overall, I like it very much. Its Light, give us a good photo, and cheap..haha. (spend more money on lens..body, later then upgrade..haha)

Hope u have fun with ur new 1000D..cheers.

Fatah...
i guess, what you are mentioning is correct (exactly i thought like the digi cams.. the LCD screen will glow up... ha ha ha :D) , i'll try to get to turn on the live view.
How is the battery life? And cheap?..I guess Sony A-200 is cheaper than this!
Let me know if some photo shoot outings are there?

Are there any automobile photo shoots here? Wanna try my hands there!

Thanks a lot!

Hi Mikon..

For automobile..i will love too..but dont have the opportunity yet. Should look out for any exhibitions on automobile..and it there is, pls remember to update at the thread here if there's one,,so all of us ..can go and shoot.

Hmm..batt life..not too sure yet..but..with battery grip on..i feel like my batt can last very long leh :bsmilie:
Cheap for canon range..A200 and nikon D40, D40X, n D60 are cheaper..but they cannot beat
our 1000d la. ahahaha

Anyway i trying to sell my 1000D body + grip. But alotz reply for my grip..haha..i dun think i selling it if the body not sold.

There was a thread by fleaz recently..It seems like a lot of the 1000D users cannot wait to get rid of their 1000D. I've been seeing so many on BnS, a new listing once every couple of days.
For my case,, I got good "lobang". thats y i try to sell..but since no one want to get my package..everyone crazy for the BG-E5..then nvm la forget it..haha

1000D is a gd camera. I never regrett getting it..
BTW mahathir(member of Club 1000D) is organizing a trip to sungei buloh dis sat morning.
If u interested u may join. K...have fun.

not sure about this Saturday... as i would be outta country.. rest any other day.. i'll be joining you.

have fun!

the only word i would say about the pic is : WOW

I might consider to upgrade to a more professional model for use if I am that serious of going into it or else I think 1000D will accompany me through.

Define serious. Unless you are earning from it, it always more of a want than need, thus I see no point in upgrading. Then again, you're RickyMoney. For everyone else, better to save up for rainy days.

i'll try to get to turn on the live view.

If you wanted live view, you really should have gotten Sony.
Battery life, shoot for 2 days only drop 1 bar. For occasional shooter, the battery would probably last more than 2 weeks.
If you wanted cheap, you should have gone with a compact. DSLRs are never cheap.

Was this taken using tripod? I suppose you play with longer exposures.

Hi, i'm no expert but i feel the lower body of the merlion is a bit over-exposed..
Overall, its a great pic..

Just my 2cents'..

Yo bro..
No mistake... 1000D is a gd camera. U know how much time i spend at the shop..buying this 1000D.. The Salesman ask me to get 450D..which cost me 200 more.
I even call up my bro in law and ask his opinion. debating and debating with the salesman. The funny thing that we argue abt is, the salesman told me that u cant mount batt grip on 1000D, only 450D is able to put on batt grip. (he think i dumb, never do homework..) End up, i draw a line not to take 450D.
So...dun worry,.its a good camera afterall..trust me

Cheers

Agree with you bro.. It definitely is a good camera.. Its performance in high-ISO setting is surprisingly good for its size..
A 'chilli padi', this 1000D..

The main key is..to keep on trying....ok. All d best. ;)

A Camera is to capture memories...not to capture dust.
Remember that..This is the words that Jino Lee say..When i attend the EOS Class.

Considering both using same battery & almost identical in design, what argument did the salesman use to try to convince you that the 1000D cannot fit battery grip?

Which shop? Care to share?

hey bro.. agreed too.. the major differences are 1000D 7AF points & 10mega pixels only....

you forgot to mention shooting rate for RAW (3.5fps vs 1.5fps) & spot metering. these are major differences also.

original one should be under $200 (no batteries). the phottix one is $110 with 2 compatible batteries.

actually, the background is well lighted, but then again.. the spotlights are pointing to the merlion. thats why it is over-exposed..

u might want to play with the curves in Photoshop.

Oh if you shoot in RAW, lagi best.. You can try to make it better also..
