happening thread! glad you guys made friends through photography!
hmm your pictures.. i couldn't put it in the post.. somehow the forum disallowed me to put on tbe pics.. so i took them out..
#1 - i thought should use a faster shutter speed.. can up your ISO to 800 or slap on the flash.. should work for a sharper 'people' picture..
#2 - based on your image properties, seems like the shutter speed too fast.. i'm assuming you shot this on a tripod? if so, can set to a slower shutter speed and higher f-number.. ISO can keep to bare minumum and off the IS on the lens, if there is.. it'll create nice light trails from cars passing by..
#3 - think there's some flare.. but it's quite a nice shot.. would be better if there were clouds above it..
#4 - the picture's out of focus.. is it on MF? cuz like cannot see what's the camera locking on..
#5 - can meter the scene to include nice reflections on the water.. can be done by prolonging shutter speed to a probably -1 or somewhere-around-there EV.. horizon seems slanted..
try playing around with your white balance too..

Hey guys...
1000 thanks to Mahathir & William..to make it happen that nite.
Had a great nite that time..the times really run fast at that time(nxt time we should make it earlier..hahaha).
I really wish we had more members..should be more happening then.
I really2 crazy for the prime lens..will be getting one soon..haha. Thanks to mahathir for borrowing me that nite.
Belows are a few shots i took that nite.
U know what i like about shooting dis photo... There was a live band playing when we were shooting..very SYiiooook la.
First time hands on 10-22mm. Pretty cool...(Ppl say there's lens distortion, but i say..this is HELL OF FUN!!.)
For me..this is a Syiook PRIME Lens i ever shot.. 50mm f(i forget..haha)

Main Equipment: DSLR gear, Zoom Lenses, macro lenses, Tripod not really necessary, Lens Hood

It seems like a lot of the 1000D users cannot wait to get rid of their 1000D. I've been seeing so many on BnS, a new listing once every couple of days.
Considering that it started selling some 4 months ago (?), is it so easy to outgrow the camera? Use 1 month then decided to upgrade?
Or those selling are the impulse buyers? Buy already then regret getting a DSLR?

I suspect the low price point of the 1000D makes it an easy impulse buy for the beginner (that includes me). It will also attract people using PnS who are upgrading and this camera falls under the tolerable upgrade cost. It would not surprise me that these people never do research then complain 1000D got no video .. got no 10x zoom or something like that.
Personally, I am eagerly waiting for mine to arrive so I can 'register' under Club 1000D

I am a new user of 1000D and don't find anything wrong with it. I think it is individual preferences when coming to choose the model of the camera. It is just like choosing a girl friends. Of course when come to price comparison, it does make a lots of difference and different models I think give you difference quality. Well, at this moment, 1000D should be suffice for me until I have master it and maybe who know in the future, I might consider to upgrade to a more professional model for use if I am that serious of going into it or else I think 1000D will accompany me through. More to shoot and practise before can comment further on it.

Personally, I feel that those who bought the 1000D and eventually selling it off after just a few moths of usage, would have been better off adding a few hundred bucks and getting a better DSLR in the 1st place, instead of an entry-level. Well, to each his own anyway.
