ok, im going to kopi tiam for my before bed beer, and long time no see the Tiger Beer promoter from China ... have to touch base before any Ah beng beat me to it.

i'm going bliss for some shots not shoots later lol

our 1000D got 2sec timer mah.. need to use 6sec ah?

and one newb question  shooting at 300mm meaning 300mm zoom?

haha yep sorta, although the word would be 300mm focal length. zoom would be the word to describe lenses that have variable focal lengths, with primes being lenses that have a fixed focal length (meaning no zoom) ;)

my tripod lousy la, two seconds really not enough for vibration to settle =p

yup have! you can select the custom timer and set it to 6 seconds by pressing the up or down arrow.

Which function? Self Timer: Continous?

hmm so when choosing tripod we shld get a heavy one to be stable ah?
brb i go research on tripods

oh poop, my bad! yes realised that thing is to set the number of shots -____-

feel kinda stupid now =p

For those wondering about turning off the IS when on tripod. Haslan might have some interesting stories for you.

In any case, you can try it for yourself. If you have an IS lens that is fairly long focal length ... > 200mm maybe .. set it up on a tripod .. leave the IS on .. point it to the moon .. make sure the moon is roughly in the centre (not very important but easier to find when you zoom later) .. turn on the live view .. make sure the moon is roughly in the centre .. then zoom in to the image to 10x zoom on the live view. leave it there and stare at the moon. you will realise even though it is on the tripod and you are not touching it .. the moon will move all over the screen

Dun say that, I am just trying to help you not using the function that is not existing.

Have fun exploring. You must rule the camera and not the other way round. :)

hey about that test, the moon isn't a very good test subject as you'll be able to observe the moon drifting along it's orbit around the earth on a long lens. perhaps a building would be a better test subject? :)

oh ya when shooting with tripod.. i should be using live view or view finder?
i was trying to take photos at the memorial near cityhall while pointing up i was trying to position myself to look into the view finder and i look kinda in a very "fun" posture..

haha! you mean in a compromising position? =p

i'm not sure, i don't use tripods very often as mine is crappy, but when taking pictures of still life i normally use the live view and adjust the focus manually.
