Cinecity Equipment

Hello all.

I know people who see what I'm gonna write may curse and swear.
I know there are many in the industry who may look down on the brand cinecity, ie Indian company who make imitation equipment.
But as the saying goes, you pay for what you get, and at this point in time I can only afford cinecity, so I pay for it expecting not to get Steadicam quality, but cinecity quality.

Anyway, enough crap...

I just bought the cinecity version of the Glidecam HD4000, they call it:
Flycam 6000 with Magic Vest and Magic Arm

also bought a
Mattebox/FF/Rod system to go with my GT35Pro.

I'll post a test shot soon...

But in the mean time, for those who want to play around with cheaper alternatives of expensive equipment, cinecity is a good starting point. Of course, now having only owned the Flycam for one day...I am already thinking of investing in a good low-end Steadicam system...

You can check them out at http://www.thecinecity.com

Hi Yihern,

For me, just as long as the equipment perform up to my expectation and the price is fair in my eyes, where it's made does not really matter.
Just as long as it's made using legal means :bsmilie:
I assume the prices are in USD ?

What are the delivery charges like ?

Thanks.

Not wanting to sound like I'm blowing their horn, but delivery charges are very reasonable and EXTREMELY fast!
For the Flycam and all, it was 5 boxes totalling 30kg...Shipping was 225USD. I ordered on 26th Dec 2010, and it arrived yesterday, 29th Dec.

Yes the prices are in USD.

And being a regular has gained me a small discount privillege. So if you interested u can buy through me lah...It's not much discount, but its better than nothing...

I'm glad your experience with cinecity is good. i had a horrible experience with them & their products

my first experience with their product is their follow focus wheel. The construction is pretty good, but it does not slide properly on any 15mm rods I've tried. But still useable.

My second experience is their Jib arm

The metal parts came rusty. Worst of all, when I pan the head, the parts come loose. It construction was very poor. It was completely useless & I wanted to send back to them. They did not reply for 1 month even after several emails. So i threaten to post my experience online, then they finally responded. The equipment is back with them but i have not receive a refund. I give up already.

I understand that their price is very tempting & honestly, I wasn't expecting a high quality product & i thought if their product is at least useable, then its an ok investment. I was wrong. Their products are just no ready for professional work.

Wow :( That sounds pretty bad.
I was about to email them on more info of their 9' jib arm and delivery charges. Now I think I'll pass.

Ultimately, you pay for what you get.
I had my fair share of trying out less-than-pro equipment...some worked out fine, some just don't cut it for pro work.

If you need precision & reliability, go for the tested & proven gears.
If you have clients who pay good money for your services, you want to make sure you can deliver too.

Whatever works for your application & shoot requirements.
Thanks for sharing your encounters....looking forward to hear your reviews for your new toys.

yah i know...but the jib really cannot make it lah...i see the construction also dun feel like buying already...doesnt look like the frame can support 14'....hahaha.

i was thinking of ezfx...anybody tried that b4? at least that one looks more durable...

as for my steadicam...good experience so far...but i'm still noob. needa practice more. i put on for like 2 mins only shag already...but managed to get a first recording...pardon the lousy tilting cos i cannot control the thing properly...first time ah. but i think it's rather smooth.

maybe cinecity is good for the stuff that can hardly go wrong. slider. mattebox. rails. car suction mount. dolly maybe?

guys, i feel like getting a flipping 35mm adapter...any to recommend? letus extreme? i currently use the gt35pro...but cannot lah...very grainy...buay tahan! (and yes, it's vibrating)
