why are you being so kind to me in the middle of the night? :(

Anyway, there's a lot of connotation to vegetarian leh. Not all vegetarian choose to be vegetarian because of religion. And not all vegetarian, even those religious one, choose to be vegetarian because they dun wanna "take lives".

OK let's (try again to) help the_cheat wind up his brains…

a person is eating mock goose (you know those soya-based concoction made to resemble roast goose), is he/she a vegetarian (in the sense that he/she does not "wanna take lives")?

It has nothing to do with photography, for frankly, I have not be doing photography religiously for, err... 8 months and counting? It's more to do with my other encounters in life: in science and research, in post-classical music, in contemporary and modern art, in adventure games and in day-to-day interaction.

Frankly, it's so hard to put into words of why I change. But I think it's quite obvious that I did, for the mentality change is reflected on the words.

and the "mellowing" does not bring you greater contentment? perhaps you were not that extreme in the first place. and this "mellowing" has brought you to the other extreme, that of completely losing your own character.

He/she is a vegetarian if he/she willed himself/herself to be so. If he/she thinks that eating mock goose is not an act that a vegetarian ought to practise, then he/she is better off not being a vegetarian.

Again, from my atheistic standpoint, eating a plant is still taking lives. So no matter how they reason, they just ain't vegetarian. Fact is, people always think that taking lives only mean taking away the lives of animals. But how many times do people neglect that fact that even the little ants that they step on or the creepy crawlies on the leaves that they abuses are all animals? Why put on the facade of thinking of being vegetarian as being kind to animals, and respectful to lives, when there's simply no way out of it?

I am unable to think in paragraphs, you see. at best in complete sentences. so my answer is: he/she is a vegetarian in deed, but not in the heart.

arh! you don't have to look gentle to BE gentle. converserly, what SEEMS gentle, may not be gentle.

heehee 8mm finish liaoz.

I'm not one who's easily content. So the gauge of relative contentment is simply lost on me. Greater contentment or lesser contentment? They just don't register.

Anyway, I don't think the "mellowing" has brought me to another extreme, for I know I was that extreme in the past. If I weren't, I wouldn't have even go back to research! As for losing of character, perhaps that is the case. Perhaps it is not. Perhaps it's just a rite of passage in my life. Fact is, I'm still young and immature, so I guess I have every right to mature into my rightful character right?

i go by actions. and to the best of my knowledge, no one has been brutalised by you. so i deduce that you seem to be gentle.
