I think remove the carpet will be good, cleaner portrait of the stool and backboard. :thumbsup: I like the tone.

I don't agree. The carpet gives the picture a better perspective of where the place is, and what the objects in the picture are linked in the "real world". Without the carpet, the picture will just be a still life of the board and chair, with a rather limited perspective.

but the carpet keeps taking away my attention. but you said something very interesting. I realise why I like it (without the carpet). I was looking for a still life study, the light reflected off the ground makes a very good canvas.

Sometimes taking attention away is not that bad. There's rules of course in a good picture, but it all boils down to what the artist/photographer wanna present.

I don't think he wanna show still life per se. Then again, who except k, knows what he wanted to say?

You're not wrong in saying that the carpet is out of place, and neither am I right to say the carpet has it's place there. At the end of the day, it's all subjective. And frankly, I think K is having hell of a time seeing people discussing about his picture, rather than saying "nice" or "I like XXX".

I didn't say indirect hint. I'd said indirectly hinting, i.e. while the statement is directly in reply to the previous qn, it indirectly hinted to something else.
Directly hinting will be something like
*hint hint* Let's meet when the sun meets the horizon.
