few of my classmates are still using their 8310s for more than 5 years and no problems..:)

cuz nokia isn't selling this phone now lor.

after they told me i need to pay $150 to repair my N8310 without telling me why, i stopped buying Nokia hps liao... bad :thumbsd: :thumbsd: :thumbsd:

I have had a Nokia now 6230 and a few Nokia before that.
No problems at all.
Really.
Solid as a rock.
Super dependable. Still using the 6230 as a back up phone.

I do not know about the latest Nokia N73.
Wow, I almost bought that 1 or 2 weeks ago.
Lucky I read your horror story. It is made in China? hmm......

What held me back was not the phone cost.
It was the mobile operator's PLAN cost that was frightful.
The autoroam stops after a while. (in very small print on the brochure)
The caller ID you must pay.
The ++++++, maybe you end up with $150+ phone bill each month.
I do not know. Better not try 3G plan and find out the hard way.
Oh, once you buy a 3G phone they cut your phone number from 2G sim card to 3G simcard. I surfed internet and found it is techincally possible to use a 2G phone with 3G card. (they say 1000 addresses on 3G sim card -- ya big deal,... yawn... My HP iPAQ with 4 GB + 2GB Transcend (150x and 120x write speed) memory cards can store a lot more. )
They hope to forever block you from going back to 2G phones with your old number, in this way.
(They make MUCH more $$$ with 3G plans)

Surf internet with 3G phone ? what!!! on the small screen? Pitiful.
Free? really? watch the GPRS cost $$$ pile up.
Watch TV on the 3G phone? what!!! at the high cost?
See others and let others see me in Video phone call? what!!!
and reveal where I am? (ktv) :bsmilie:

what's the real advantage of the 3G phone?

I prefer my HP iPAQ 6515 anytime. New model HP 6965 maybe even better.

As for the Nokia service centre guy who (you explained may have tried to) con you.
You should pursue the matter.
I would have complained to Nokia HQ in Finland and let the local Singapore MD get a roasting.
Then he will act against the service centre staff.

the singapore md will roast the service guy , get fat checks n sit back again while waiting for the next roasting order , hahahahaha

:bsmilie: nokia? :bsmilie:

NoWaySis!

also stopped using nokia phone coz of their service...
last time everytime go will delete everything from phone and start all over. damn sian.

NO (confidence to try another nokia after all the probloems with the QC/hangups and terrible customer service) .... why? ..... KIA ('scared', in hokkien) :bsmilie:

For those diehard nokia fans, it's not an issue I guess ... coz ... NOKIA ('no scared' i.e not afraid). ;p

You may want to read this New Paper article about Nokia's service. A search around the popular forums also reveals that Nokia's service leaves much to be desired. I honestly think their policy of not replacing a handphone under any circumstances is not equitable as far as consumer rights are concerned.

no nokia phone for me since having bad customer service as well.

Nokia has majority share of the market. Therefore it must be that they are the best. We must respect majority rule. With the N series, they are also in the process of renewing themselves to make the brand more hip and happening.

My N90 camera cover came off.
Send to repair.... purchase a new cover..... went to collect ....got dust inside!
The bottom sticker no strong the edges come off.... now got tendency of unwanted dust going in!!!

How Now?

Just sharing my thoughts here..

If a product is good, why do they need so many service centre?
If a product is good, why is the service centre always crowded with so many people?

In order to serve you better, we build many service centres near you.
In order to tell people so many using Nokia, our service centres are always crowded.

This is not as bad as the Motorola Service I received a year back. I threw away into my store room my almost new motorola A1000 cos I dont like their services. I also banned all my contractor/their workers to use Motorola products if they want to do business with me.

The issue was that I drop the little joystick and aske to buy one to replace it myself but was told I need to send my phone in for repair. I explained that my phone is not faulty and the button is easily fixed. They still insist that I send the phone in. As you all know that the only Motorola service center in SG is always packed, I need to wait for about 4 hours to solve a simple problem. And I told them I'm willing to pay the full amount ($14) quoted if I send in the phone. Their rules is so strick that I bang table and get so frustrated. Imagine I just lost interest in an almost S$1k phone (at that time) and get myself a new O2 and happy til now.

Nokia. so far I had good experience with them but I dont like the 8310 which i still have cos it hangs often if my message is full. I had used more than 10 Nokia phone and the last one was 6610.

But I think Motorola loan you a set while your phone is sent for service.

the older series of Finnish-made nokias were ok. nowadays those models have a label called "made by nokia" and no longer the "made in finland" liao....

OT a bit, nokia started off as a toilet paper company *lol*, and they knew nuts about telecom stuff at all....

hum.... going back to the roots, I suppose?

Anyway, that was several decades ago. Before that, tools for carpenters, then paper business. Remember, it was a land with no industry but rich in forests and wood.

that sounds so much like the bunch of people running around in white uniforms. :bsmilie:

Did u guys notice something at Nokia Servie centres?
On many occasion when i sent in my nokia phones for services, their staffs 'like' to void the warranty of the customers' phones, without giving a good reason.
Their best reason is always = U dropped it.

As they have majority of the mobile phone market share, they must have the production to meet the demands. I always choose the second best market share holder as,
They are still not No. 1. So they have to keep improving. They have lesser demand so focus will be more on quality than Mass production. :) That's why I use Sony Erisson.
