Cheaper Flickr Pro accounts

Dear all,

I just bought a flickr pro account from clubsnap recently. That person mentioned to me it was a 2 year account. I bought it from him and activated it a month ago. Theoretically the account should last me 2 years. But it just got terminated today.

I messaged that guy today and he claims that he got these accounts from his friend;And because his friend deleted his Flickr Pro account, all the gift accounts ( 2 years Pro account) that his friend bought from his flickr pro account has been deleted, and that is why my account was downgraded from a pro account to a free account.

Please note that the guy has refunded my money. But I post this message so that CS members won't be mislead.

As the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This usually means someone is selling a gift code on an auction or some such site. This is considered fraud. You can only purchase Flickr Pro accounts from Flickr, through Yahoo!. Flickr Pro gift codes are not eligible for resale. A Flickr member who purchases such codes from fraudulent sales will lose their Pro status, and will likely be out of any money they have spent when such transactions come to our attention. It will not be refundable by Flickr/Yahoo!.

I met the same problem with ts today...

Only used it for two weeks and the pro subscription suddenly expired today

Because the guy has returned me the money. I've promised him I will not pursue be it his fault or his friend's fault, but such scams are going on.

Same here. Yesterday was OK. Today when i logged in, the message from Flickr HQ pop out said my Flickr account has expired

I just PM Darcy Zhou and we match the person's DBS account number and it is the same. So I guess its really fraud. He is using different IDs to sell cheaper flickr pro accounts. Moderators can you do something about this?

I bought mine from Confess too and just realised that my pro account has expired.. What's going on? Is yours still working?

read the new threads, someone else mentioned that this could be because the accounts were paid for using

fradulent means.

However, I do responsible for each of you who have account problem, I do respond to each of you immediately (either sms or pm) after your claim. Just give me 1day to find out, if still cannot, I will give you full refund and i will bear the loses to myself. If you guys cannot give me sometimes to find out, I can even give you immediate refund, which I actually did as some of you request for immediate solution.

Confess seems to have been active in selling his Flickr Pro accounts and we have been closing/deleting them off as quickly as we see them as well as issuing the requisite warnings which were not followed.

As far as I can understand from the Flickr site, the gift card codes do not depend on the giver's account to be active, thus we believe that the codes that are being sold here are obtained using key generators (similiar scams can be found for iTunes gift codes). Or could been purchased with fraudulent credit cards.

Waiting to hear back from confess on what is the actual back-story, and we will continue to investigate.

To follow up on what Kevin was saying, if you purchase Flickr Pro from a site other than Flickr (usually at a very steep discount), those gift codes have been purchased fraudulently.

We've become aware of a 3rd party site selling pro in this way using stolen credit cards and an unfortunate number of members have lost their Pro status.

You'll need to follow up with the seller to get your money back.

Only Flickr Pro, purchased from Flickr at $24.95 USD a year is Flickr Pro.

As before - Caveat Emptor applies - if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

This has happened to mine too. Gone status that now results in it expiring 2 years earlier as well.
