John 3:16 is selling this lens, EF-S 55-250mm for $390 brand new. Cash terms.

The price of this len went up ?

:dunno:

In June when I was in Hong Kong, the price for this len there was S$300 and last month I checked Hochimin price for this len while there was S$250. Should bought some and made a quick profit here.

Thanks guys, for reinforcing my point. This lens isn't worth that much 2nd hand, and people (both sellers and buyers) should know this.

This still doesn't mean 10/10 condition under-warranty 2nd hand price of $350 in BnS is unreasonable like what you said.

If you prefer to pay $40 more for the 1st hand lens + $15-$20 for UV filter, by all means do so, nobody is stopping you.

Assuming savings of $60, that's still 15% off for a 2nd hand but nearly brand new lens + filter. How much savings do you want? Is there a rule set by someone that says 2nd hand goods must be waaaay cheaper? How then do you explain the prices of 50mm 1.8 at BnS? - should it be given away for free?!

Now stop whining with irrelevant verbose verbiage like "shroedinger's cat" (lol did u just take physics IV or quantum weirdness gem at NUS?)

Like I said, if you aren't happy with 2nd hand market price, just politely state the offer you can afford to sellers, or get 1st hand, or just wait for better deals...

Peace. (It just means good bye in american slang.)

First master your vocabulary before attempting an argument with it.

Your psychological profile suits that of an educated person with little EQ. Or perhaps that of an angry adolescent. I see no point in continuing our conversation.

As for all other clear minded CSers, it is clear what his motives are. Read through the thread and you will know what the consensus is.

chewren..let's stop bickering.

play nice.

My goal has been to let my fellow CSers know how affordable a new 55-250mm IS lens can be. Just sharing goodies with forumers

ps. thanks for mitigating the tension bro. appreciate it. :)

lol i also got the 55-250mm Lens at $290 after bargain.

Some items really have a Skyhigh price haha just take into consideration of the 5D miniature 4GB thumbdrive, some forum user sells @ 150 lol where they get it free during COMEX time with extended warrantly apply.

To me $150 i can purchase a new 50mm lens from Canon. Well unless you are a collector then its okie haha.

Just my view cheers

If I can save S$50 and get a week-old / unused lens AFTER checking for focus/sharpness errors, I would if I need to save that S$50.

But I agree that if the lens is a few months old, why bother? Get the new one or get a lower price.

brand new 55-250 is quoted 380 by MS colour. Someone selling 2nd hand 5mth down the road with warranty at 350 bucks.. Is that reasonable? Is that a good saving or good price?

Lens such as this should go at most 300 bucks.. out of warranty would be 250 bucks... this is what i feel...

if all buy and dont want to lose money... and all sell and want a profit. then i think it would not be feasible

again..buyer caveat and demand and supply issues..

24-70 f2.8 are being snapped up 2 mins after the seller post it..

so if it is a "good" lens at a "good" price, why not.

The thing is most BUYERS don't know how much to offer and worry that they will be labelled as lowballers..:bsmilie:

and of cos there are serial lowballers or "students" (sell me cheap, no money), up to the SELLER lor.

Just like photography..subjective lah, this subject.

Once again, another one of these lenses are getting sold at more than $300 in the B/S. I guess not many CSers might notice this thread. To aid sellers in setting the right prices, I have PM "cflee" to update the prices in the Canon Price Lists (Singapore) thread. A big thank you to the quotations provided earlier by our dear friend, pete, aka raingrove.

Surprise surprise.

You know, you may wish to consider treating the prices and the 'reputable dealers' on the price guide with equal skepticism. BargainCity hasn't been on the list very long - maybe it was me that added it. So, don't read too much into it! I have rephrased "Reputable Singapore Dealers" to avoid any future confusion abt endorsing these shops etc.

Let the buyer beware!

Alright. Thanks nevertheless :)

Thanks for the price guide.

Seems that MS still selling relative cheap @ $380

In which case, might as well get a new one instead of 2nd hand.
