Was surfing around on dpreview and came across this link for a Minolta to iso-standard flash converter WITH PC-Sync interface. Great for people who want to use a third party auto flash or want to use their KM 5D in the studio.

Cost : US$16 including delivery.

From his mainpage , http://www.pbase.com/digital_initiatives/flash_adapter_for_minolta
he says that delivery is worldwide,"I will ship worldwide by air-mail. the postage is US$1". He only accepts paypal. Delivery will be to the address you have in your paypal account.

I have ordered one, will keep you all informed about how it goes.

If you have a credit/debit card and online banking account you can set up a paypal account in 5-10mins. If you dont have a online banking account you can still set up a paypal account but it will take abt 1-2 weeks as you have to wait for your bank to send you a statement from paypal containing the transaction code to use to activate your paypal account.

Latest Update : I have received a mail stating that the item has been shipped.

transport from HK $1 buck still ok to cover the cost of entire thing, imagine going to send to US... i think tis product manufactured in China not that ex...

Good News: Item has arrived..

Bad News:.. Doesnt seem to work with my test flash. (Emoblitz 280). I think its the camera. I cant detect any voltage across the flash terminals using a multimeter. Maybe it only sends a voltage signal when a minolta flash is connected ?

Did you check if there is continuity between the pins at the bottom to the hotshoe contacts? Does the PC terminal work? Or maybe the Emoblitz 280 has too high/low a trigger voltage. Hope it's not a "dead on arrival" problem.

I ordered and just got mine. It seems to work quite well with a non-dedicated Nissin 3200z thyristor hammerhead flash connected using a pc-sync cord on the KM 5D. Camera set to manual 5.6/125/iso400. The in-cam pre-flash TTL and ADI settings does not come into play and seem to have no effect here. There does not seem to be any preflash. This arrangement seemed to work but have not tried it out extensively in the field yet.

thanks john. looks like the pc sync terminal works, but the iso shoe doesn't.

err, this is just a trigger, it does not do TTL or ADI, u notice only 1 pin is on the top? its for triggering, and PC-Sync also does the same thing, no TTL, unless the flash can do it.

Tested by connecting a cheap Suntax (model Digi 28 BZS) flash to the adapter via the hotshoe and it also works fine. Both the pc-cord and hot-shoe terminals were found to work for me.

Hmm ok, I should try with a flash made for digital cameras.
