Good picture,very cute kittens shots..

Yo nik bro, thanks!

Thanks Purance =)

I've forgotten to mention these 2 kittens were probably abandoned by its owner as it was found near the rubbish collecting area.
Good news everyone, one kind lady has adopted this two lovely kittens! They will be released into the community when they grow older.

More shots of Tiger, the curious cat.

Thanks for liking them! Their eyes look so beautiful isn't it? And they are very unpredictable at times. As for lenses, hmm, various lens can be used to capture them, but you must see which are the stray and feral and the more domesticated ones. For the stray and feral ones, my choice is using tele zoom, 70-200mm. For the more domesticated ones, you can use a wide angle to a middle range lenses, 17-70mm, since they will come near you most of the times.

Very like this type of shots "with sharp object and blur background"

Sometimes, a background that looks far far away can also contributes to the blur background.

YES! YES! hehe what I like most is the "eyes" of the cats! beautiful like marble~:heart::heart:

17-70mm....i only got kits lens 18-55mm....too near also cant focus ah....

thought of buy a 50mm f1.4 may help with the nice blur background....

long tele-lens..not yet have one....should i get a long tele-lens then better to get a 50mm?:dunno:

btw, is flash needed?

I thought kit lens should have more minimum focusing distance? Sorry i don't own a kit lens yet, hehe. You can go near to the more domesticated cat's face, that should be pretty interesting. 50mm should be ok for domesticated ones and also in low light situations. I currently prefer tele-lens because i never know when i will bump into a stray, feral or domesticated ones. What happens if you have spotted an elusive feral or scaredy kittens? Feral and stray prefer you to stay a distance away from them. =)

Flash is not advisable as their eyes will give you back two reflected marbles. lol

I'm using Pentax K-7. Was using a cheapo Pentax tele kit lens SMC Pentax-F 80-200mm F4.7-5.6, very light with internal zooming but very slow. Now currently practicing with Sigma 70-200mm F2.8, very heavy to walk about but faster. Haiz, i THINK there's no best in both worlds lenses yet, light and fast. =p

Your EP2 is best for shooting cats at eye level (suggested by madmartian). I saw your recent cat photos, maybe u can adjust your exposure up a little? Zoom lens as in tele zoom?

Thanks bro! Shutter speed was 1/1000. Tiger is the most active and friendly cat in my neighbourhood.
