Cash back on 45 f1.8 & 17 f1.8

Its seem like some bros is not able to calculate how much each lens should be paid when co-buying.. keke.. this is the maths based on $718 best price got- 45mm $259
17mm $459
For reference only. . of course..

My opinion, 17 f1.8 should deserve more percentage of further discount based on lens value.

My calculation is 17 f1.8 get 63% of $50 while 45 f1.8 get 37% of $50.

For reference only.

Hi, I am interested to get the 45mm f1.8. Pls PM me if you want to conbine. :)

I'm also looking to buy a 45mm.
Anyone intending to get the 17mm and want combine purchase?

The discount of $300 will be split evenly between the 2 lenses ($150 off each lens).

Do PM me to discuss if you're agreeable.

Please try to read from beginning of this thread and you would know where to buy. Useful information already here.

Gotten my 45mm tgt with another nice guy to utilise the bundle deal. Great price for a great lens. :)

Opinions,suggestions and thoughts welcome,

If you have EM10 with current kit lens, and you have say $800 or so to spend on lens or lenses.
Would the current kit lens with 17mm 1.8 and 45mm 1.8 be your choice or sell your kit lens to finance and get the 12-40mm 2.8 pro only?
You would only be losing 5mm focal length of the 45mm. In terms of IQ and versatility which is better

Decided not to wait and picked up a 45mm F1.8 just now and I am a happy man now, even though have not start using the lens, haha. :)

Make me want keep the ep3 and get the 45mm lens.. But has too many cameras already.. :/

My answer will be get 12-40mm f2.8 to fulfil if :

You don't bring this camera out everyday and it will be workhorse when only on trip.

Even it is your everyday camera, if the camera and pro lens combined is not bulky nor heavy.

My answer will be 17mm and 45mm if:

You wish to use EM10 and 17mm your everyday combination kit and 45mm to bring along everyday also only when you need that focal length. Example live pub singing and you are restricted to move around therefore you need to "zoom in" to take the shot. . The size and weight will be helpful vs 12-40mm.

12-40 pro- $1100
17 + 45 - $7xx

Price - 17+45
Versatility - 12-40
F-stop - 17+45
IQ - leave it to those who own these 3 lens together to comment.

Your options
1) sell kit lens, get 12-40 + possible grip ecg-1 as 12-40 is more balance with grip on your em10.
2) keep kit lens, buy only 45
3) keep kit lens, buy both 17+45

If I were you, I choose option 2).

Keep some balance cash as spare. :-)

Congratulations bro.

Thanks.

A quick question for those having both the 17mm and 45mm. When 45mm is mounted and when you switch on the camera, do you noticed a much louder sound when compare to 17mm? Mine is much louder, so I am wonder is this normal.

Hmm , never noticed this at all. If by this evening no replies to this, I'll check for u when I get home.

Actually I like Alphonse's answer most.
In short it's back to u whether will u prefer dealing with primes or a zoom.

I've all the 3 lenses mentioned and IQ wise to be frank u aren't going to have much to really complain about since all 3 are capable of giving u very good sharp IQ and no matter what, at worst a still very fast f2.8 aperture.

All in one solution : 12-40/2.8, at the 40mm FL, can still do portraits though of course the 45 does this better.

Don't mind fixed FL , changing lenses and really want to take full advantage of the lightness of EM10: Primes u go.

:)

Hi Everyone here!

I did not pay attention to the newspaper advertisement until came across this forum.
I too interested in the 45mm F1.8 lens as a birthday gift for my wife.

I was initially confuse after calling Olympus Singapore this morning and reading the some threads here.

Olympus told me that I needed to buy a body before I could enjoy the cashback option to buy this 45mm lens.
Few threads here mentioned needed to buy the 2 lenses together to enjoy the cashback even though only interested in the 45mm lens only

To cut the chase, can I buy the 45mm lens alone at about $284 (depending on that retailing shop selling price).

Thank You
EisMann
