End of the day it is still about equipment (is it not Canon?). It is still better to go out with people that has other equipment other than your own (eg different brands) so you will not get that Buy Buy Buy effect on yourself. IMO there are a lot of resources online to provide you the information to make an informed decision. As for newbies, get them to learn using the search function either here or www.google.com

Brother, I also agreed with you. You should also go out with users of different brands for specific outing, such as bird shooting for example regardless of brands.

Having said that, the purpose of the Canon User Group is to bring Canonians together, something like an exclusive club only for specific members.

The success of this gathering depends on the participating rates. It's not compulsory, etc. If others can do it, why can't CANON? Don't forget, Canon is the market leader.

Like what I had said before, we should be matured, unbiased and objective, so why spread he BUY BUY BUY virus? Everyone knows that L lenses are great, but are they the best in the world or to your best needs, etc? We should analyse each individual's situation and prescript a best medication for each individual. What's the 'fool' to ask people to buy buy buy just because that lens is the best of its kind.

We, Canonians should dare to differ from others. :)

eh u bought the 400/5.6 liaoz ah?? lemme play with it leh ;)

Come on... suggest some nice names

call ourselves the L Lords lah or Lord of the L.....kekeke

If anyone want to organise up a canon user group, the Canon Digital Lab @ Digital Media Hub could be used as your "base camp" or meeting point.

We (CDL) are in constant communications with Canon marketing therefore could be a link between users and Canon. You are most welcome to use our place for meetup or organising activities.

From what I know, Canon is very interested to re -start the Canon Club. It was closed down long time ago due to some club internal problem. It was one of the popular clubs in the mid 80s.

Canonians? Although I do own and shoot exclusively with Canon, I do not consider as one. By claiming one as a Canonian, it only tells others that he/she is a Canon user. Maybe Canon Photographic Society or CUG will be better. Canonian as a term only shows an equipment collector/user with brand loyalty, kind of BS to me personally.

Just like Gessians, Rafflesians etc, a lot of passion in the school, but Canonians a lot of passion in the equipment, not photographic.

Canon Marketing closed down the Club during 90s due to economic downturn. If there's a chance for the Club to reborn. My suggestion is to use back the Canon Photography Club , "CPS" as I believe a lots of existing members still have a strong feeling for the Club. I still have the Club Logo sewed on my Camera Bag.

Canon should support the move since economic situation has already improved for the past years and all Canon users like us are indirectly marketing their Products for them. They should show some support. Thanks.

CUG?

Fortunately, it's a 'Canon' and not a brand with the letter 'F' :bsmilie:

Then we should be glad that they didn't name it "Fanon"? :bsmilie:

Perhaps a date should be set to meet up all the interested user and get organised.

How about calling it Canon Interest Group aka CIG... ?

CaUS - Canon Users Syndicate

must we have a name before we start a gathering? A name is useless if the aim or objective is forgotten.

the name provides the objective

Have our own CPS - Canon Photographers Syndicate

:)

canon photographer society CPS sound simple and pro enough , count me in althought i have plans to jump over to nikon DSLR in the future but its unsure things unless canon release new attractive model

currently a poor canon flim user :(

hehe.. so interesting! i also want to join!
