Wow! Mighty impressive lineup.

The 15-85 is very tempting. The 18-135 not so.

The 7D ticks a lot of boxes but somehow I wish the megapixels were like 12-15MP. Will create huge files. Oh well, maybe I will buy it...once the 7D Mark II comes out. Prices of 7D will sure fall then. Ha ha.

The new lenses arent cheap 15-85 retailing for US799 and 18-135 for US499, if youd asked me id rather get the 17-55 other the 15-85 for around the same pricde

For me, I would prefer the extra 30mm zoom at the end. If IQ of both lens are same, then I would go for the 15-85.

I doubt the IQ would be around the same, otherwise Canon would kill their 17-55

anybody buying 7D?...can combine to purchase in Mass order..for good deal.

It does tick a lot of boxes. But if you think about it, most of these boxes have been ticked by the d300 2 years ago. Now with the d300s I'm not sure if I will choose the 7d if they cost exactly the same. 7d trumps d300s in terms of megapixel and flexibility of video. D300s trumps 7d in terms of dual memory slot, 51 AF points and in camera CA correction with any lens. Personally I prefer the d300s feature set more than the 7d feature set. I'm a canon fan btw.

Amazon already have the cam and lenses up.

It's a bit disappointing that it's not FF... but the pop-up "CLS" is really good to have!

question is when will arrive in SG ? Luckly i haven't buy 5D markii (keep wiaitng for 50D replacement).
i think 50D replacement will be an unmentioned 60D. Dpreview comments the feature list makes 7D a big-brother series to xxD series.

But if the IQ is not close to the 17-55, I wonder how they think they can justify this price, considering they throw in UD lens & all, plus DPreview seems to be quite impress with the first feel of the lens.

I don't think this is a direct competition with 17-55 because that is f2.8, whereas this is variable apperture.

Don't worry about the 60D. I am sure that Canon will fit a camera in the mid one thousand range. There will be people who do not want to splash out 2k+ for the 7D that will want the 60D. In fact the 7D fills a gap between 60D and 5D.

Quite a theoretical discussion before any more in depth review on AF and image compare between the 2.

Canon has finally come out a reasonable good 1.6x crop DSLR. Remember, EOS 40D to 50D was not very exciting.

I guess that EOS 7D will be used to set the base for future models. Hence, the next replacement model for EOS 7D will not be that exciting.

If the price of EOS 7D is < $2,700, it will be very attractive. It won't be above $3,000 so as not to compete with EOS 5D mk II.

The best thing that i like about the EOS 7D is the 100% viewfinder coverage. Finally, Canon has incorporated the on-demand grid lines which Nikon has already incorporated donkey years ago.

Yay time to sell my existing camera loh... who wants who wants?

Seriously though, does anyone have any "wind sound" of a concrete local release date? I am going overseas in Sept... and if this thing could come with me it would be divine.

here's Dpreview of 7D: (fresh from the oven)
http://www.dpreview.com/previews/canoneos7d/

i like:

1) 1.0X magnification and 100% coverage
- wonders what it will look like, how different from 95% ......

2) 8 fps
- should have 60 fps, then no need video liao ....... :bsmilie:

3) E-TTL II auto flash with EX-series Speedlites, Wireless multi-flash support
- does this mean can use slave flash w/o mainflash? v good for portraits then. just use only one flash on the side of the model.

4) 19 cross-type AF points (f/2.8 at centre) Center point additionally sensitive with lenses of F2.8 or faster
- like that f1.2 focus no longer a problem

5) Dust Delete Data - Data from a test shot is used to 'map' dust spots and can be later removed using Canon DPP Software
- wu yia bo?? is this new? or other new cams also have?

6) No battery: 820 g
- that's v light right? ;)

7) The 7D's movie mode features full manual control over shutter speed and aperture.
- if this is full frame, i sure buy !!

Sadly, I just wished they didn't cram so many megapixels onto its sensor. :( From initial hands-on previews and image samples on the web, the IQ seems rather better than the 50D but doesn't hold a candle to 5DMk2, especially at higher ISO settings (1600 and above).

This is the one thing that could hold me back from getting one. Guess have to wait for more detailed reviews and user feedbacks first.

7D - not this moment.
from Canon Japan site, seems like the kit lens will be either 15-85 or 18-200....

Yes, still wonder why they want to put so many pixel into it...
about the IQ, I feel they won't want to compete with 5DII, thus make it this way...
