I think you need a minimum of 50 posts before you can go there. Post some more and learn from us so that so can go there soon. You are getting close.

Ya, i'm learning. :) can you suggest whether single coated UV filter and CPL is good enough for me? Should I use 52mm or 58mm adapter? I really have no idea!!!

I would suggest the 58mm one. The filters are a bit more expensive. However, you will not need to worry about vignetting if you stack them. You can also use a step down ring for thread sizes smaller then 52mm.

Thanks cerebrus. For the filter, shall I get the single coated or double coated one since our local dealers do not keep stock for the single coated filters.

As Nightz88 said, there are a number of models out there. Some of us here are using Raynox from www.raynox.com, others are using the Canon original, others are using some other manufacturer's.

For Raynox, go to the Marketplace section and lookfor the Mass Order thread from Morphis, who is the rep for Raynox products in Clubsnap or you can drop him a pm.

You will need an adapter to mount the converter on to. Again, some of us are using Canon original, some are using Raynox adapters and again, some, like myself are using the Lensmate adapters from www.lensmateonline.com. I am also using the Raynox DCR-6600 PRO 52mm wide angle converter that is recommended by lensmate as it goes well with the adapter.

For more information regarding wide or tele converters go to:
www.lensmateonline.com
www.raynox.com

Here go through the lenses that you are interested in and then post questions back in the Accessories thread. We are glad to answer your questions if you have any.

Cheers.

Hey felixcat,

I read from http://lensmateonline.com/newsite/S2wide.html that the Raynox 6600 doesnt perform as good on a 58mm adapter? True?

And any opinion on the Canon Tele-converter TC-DC58B?

Thanks!

Bec the 58mm is a tad shorter than the 52mm. This is in comparison with a lensmate adapter in use with the lenses. But the results on the raynox website says otherwise. Canon adapter is another animal. I think the raynox website assumes that you are using the canon adapter, but not the lensmate site as it uses its own adapter to compare with the lenses.

The Canon should go well with Canon i presume, as it would have been tested by Canon

TC-DC58B i have never used so cannot comment.

I've noticed the following statement from the lensmate about the 58mm adapter:

The only type of internal reflections we were able to cause is the one seen in this image. When a filter is attached to the 58mm adapter and the lens is aimed at a bright light source, the highly reflective ring on the front of the lens barrel is reflected back into the lens by the filter. This does not occur with the 52mm adapter.

Meaning that the 52mm is better than the 58mm as it is not so reflective. BUT this is ONLY if the lensmate adapter is used together with the Raynox lens NOT Otherwise.

i asked around, and it is said that 52mm will be more prone to vignet? is this true for the s3?

Hi

I'm thinking of getting a Tele-converter with at least 2x. Does anyone has a good recommendation?

I'm still confuse with a 52mm and 58mm adapter. Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks a lot for your help.

www.raynox.com, the DCR-2020PRO.

For the 52mm adapter, the diamter of the front is 52mm for you to fit 52mm filters.
For the 58mm adapter, the diamter of the front is 58mm for you to fit 58mm filters.

Not true, I have the 52mm DCR06600PRO from Raynox. No vignetting so far, unless you put a filter between the adapter and the converter lens. If you want to use filter with the converter lenses, you should always fit the filter on the lens.

Do you have a preference for 52mm or 58mm? I read views from many people and couldn't quite decide on which one to buy.
