hm... wondering if the s3 can use the Canon Wide Convertor WC-DC 52A, if so, is it better than the raynox lens? if i can get it 2nd hand @ $110, is it worth it?

The wide conveter in this case is 52mm right? then of course cannot as Canon's adapter is 58mm.

can i assume that the "original" size of the s3 is 58mm?

What "original" size are you referring to? The lens of the S2/S3 cannot take any filters without adding the adapters. You can purchase from Canon the "original" version of diameter 58mm or get 3rd party versions in either 52mm or 58mm. This is depending on what your needs are.

I have both the 52mm and 58mm adapters from Lensmate, which I purchased from www.lensmateonline.com. The 52mm cost me USD$22.95 and the 58mm cost me USD$24.95. But as I bought both at once, i paid USD$44.90 and USD $12.00 for shipping totalling USD$56.90, to SG.

The 58mm I use with filters whereas the 52mm is used with the RAYNOX DCR-6600 PRO. Note that the 52mm I do not use a filter between the adapter and the converter as this will cause vignetting.

If you want to use filters with the adapter/converter combi, you need to place the filters in front of the converter. In this case, the Converter has a diameter of 72mm, so you will need to purchase filters of that size (72mm=costly).

2)Cir Polariser - Brand? Price?

3)Lens adapter - Not intending to get any attachment. Just to mount my Skylight 1A filter for protection and sometimes cir polariser for photo-taking. Must be black in color. Price?

Thanks.

Just a little note, none of these brands can adjust power. One little trick for some of the slaves with light intensity sensors is to cover the sensor. Makes the slave thinks it dark, then will fire at full power.

Hey bro,

Thanks for the tip! good idea that.

Which adapter, UV filter and polarizer you are using? How much and where you bought it from? Anyone interested in mass order from the Lensmate?

Oic. Im used to the 380Ex on my G3. Adjusting the Flash from my "Func" menu.

I guess it's back to basic for this new S3 + Slave.

any particular slave flash model to recommend?

Like I have mentioned a number of times, I am using the Lensmate adapters 52mm and 58mm from www.lensmateonline.com. I also have a wide converter DCR-6600PRO 52mm from www.raynox.com

Go to these two sites to read up and compare adapters/converters and select your fav ones.

I'm actually interested in an MO from lensmate - it's really hard to find the canon adaptor! Count me in for the 52mm! :)

Mass Order, one of the many acronyms in use here, like USM, IS, BRB, OMGWTFBBQ. :bsmilie:

Hi guys, does the single coated UV filter and single coated polarizer is good enough for normal use?

what is MO?
MO means Mass Order. This is the way a buch of you can get together and one guy leads the MO by ordering on behalf of the rest.

that's great! i will PM u. anyone else?
Start a thread in the Mass Order thread in the marketplace section. All those who are interested should then go to the thread and add their names in.
