btw wat did u buy?

Here is my story:

Went to Canon Service Center bringing my old IXUS 50 on 31 Aug. The camera has an intermittent problem with the mode selector switch. Sometimes when the switch is at the camera position, the camera is still in the video mode.

Solution was to replace the switch at a cost of $80. I told the CSO that I would not want to spend $80 on this. I was then introduced to the PPP. I told them that I would want to purchase the S95. The CSO informed me that the RRP for the S95 is $669. I was offered a PPP price of $531 for the S95. (about 20% off). The RRP on 31 Aug for S95 is indeed $669. (I've checked before going down to Canon on that day) I was given a paper confirming that I have bought the S95 at $531 through PPP. Payment is to be made when the camera is available in a few days time.

On 1 Sep., I realized that the price of the S95 dropped to $599! I told myself that I have been too hasty, if only I have waited for one more day...

On 2 Sep. morning, I called up Canon Service Centre informing them that I have realized about the change in the RRP from $669 to $599. I told them that I would want to pull out of the PPP if I still need to pay $531 when I am informed to collect the S95 later. The CSO over the phone told me that they will call me back. About 10 mins later, the CSO called me and told me that there has been a price change and they will offer the S95 at a new PPP price of $476. Of course that I am glad to hear that!

On 2 Sep. afternoon (about 4 pm), I received a SMS informing me to collect my S95. During the collection, the original offer PPP price of $531 was changed to $476. I am happy! After that, went down to Level 1 (Canon Link) to collect my free gifts (as per the website, not the COMEX freebies).

End of story. :)

I call them up yst n they told me 531 so i end up in comex collecting freebied aha if i noe is 476 i rather take frm them den.

I understand your situation. Sometimes, it is who you managed to speak to. Luck involved.

anyone knows if this program still offers 50D?

haiz.....i forget abt this...so sad...if nt i will get better discount liaoz..

hi,

Sorry to ask a repeated question.

I understand from the thread that the discount given is about 20% +- 0.5%

However, I just called CSC and they say it's 5-10%?
I have a EOS 50 (which the film latch is broken) and wish to trade in for a EOS 550D.
Has anyone being offered a 5-10% discount from RRP recently?
If so, then might as well go to John at Funan rite?

I think u juz call and ask for the price under ppp rather than the discount. After that, do ya homework and then decide.

PPP will at least offer you 20% off. Look at 600D instead. you can call to check if 550D is still around.
