Canon Powershot S95

finally, Canon has fixed the wheel at the back? that's probably my biggest gripe about my current S90. anyways, am glad i chose S90 rather than LX3 (this was the main competitor 9 months ago when i bought my S90), due to small size--now it's a good complement to my current 550D... i use the S90 when i need the small size and light weight and the 550D when i don't.

The HD video alone is enough reason to upgrade for people like myself. No need to carry a separate HD cam anymore.

I dare bet anyone in 1 year time no one will even want to take low res Standard definition video anymore.

If I want to take precious moments of video of my kid birthday, why would I want it in low res where we are not restricted by storage, network bandwidth, or GPU capabilities on our computers nowadays?

Any idea when this will hit SG? Looking to replace my f31fd.

i emailed the canon of singapore 2 days ago and they said late august to early sept s95 will be available in sg.

higher chance to see the camera in the comex show...

get ready to see alot of people offload their s90.... or maybe not.. if they use more common sense..

Common sense? Wanting HD video is a perfectly legit choice. Wanting a cam with other additional features on the newer model is also perfectly fine. There are no such thing as "common sense" as long you have the need for a certain feature.

Rubbish.

I never said that its wrong to want HD video or additional features offered by the new s95..
please don't misunderstand me.. and don't say that i'm saying rubbish..

i just pointed out that some people will offload to buy, and some if they had just purchased their s90 will think twice about spending money again so quickly...

i'm sorry if i phrased my words in a way that made you thought otherwise...

I currently own the Canon S90 and I have made many accidental changes to the setting due to the "smooth" wheel dial. I consider this a major design flaw for the S90.

In addition to correcting the above design flaw, the S95 also swapped the Power and Ring function button, which was another design flaw.

For the above improvements, I would be willing to change to S95. I'm just wondering Canon would have a scheme for current S90 users to change to S95.

PS: I had the LX3 but I still prefer Canon's interface.

Ergonomics flaws corrected, good ISO performance, fast lens, HD video, light, slim and compact body, is this the perfect point and shoot or what? What more do we want? More rugged body?

S95 spotted at Funan.

TK foto. Think about 600+ but can't confirm as I only overheard them discussing it.

so you saw the camera? or you heard them discussing about bringing in the camera?

maybe i should go and check tomolo... hmmm

I just went to SLR Revolution. The S95 arrived today and was already selling like hot cakes. $589 (cash price, GST incl.), comes w/8GB and case.

Thanks for the price. Seems reasonable for such a camera. BBB.

I saw the camera itself.

Gosh, if its inclusive of GST, thats a pretty good pricing! :thumbsup:And it arrived in shops so fast! Way faster than the LX5 which was announced before it, and still yet to appear on local shops.

Pretty tempting now!
