Wat is ur desired effect of e dog dat u wan?

Outing? To where?

Lmodel wants a shallower depth of field. Dog OK, background not blur enough. Correct?

Sorry, it is not possible in camera, I believe it is due to the smaller CCD sensor size compared to, say, 35 mm film... Do you want a detailed explanation? Hope not. :sweatsm:

Try stepping back and using more telephoto. That's the most you can do. Your other options are: change to a camera with a bigger sensor, post-processing and finding inner peace. ;)

Ya, I think when it comes to outing, venue important. I suggest daytime, since our ISO400 :thumbsd: .

Don't know your interests. Please, please suggest:
1. Zoo
2. Little India

3. Sungei Buloh
4. Jurong Bird Park

Lmodel, mind sharing the focal length and aperture information for the two pictures? Did you take the two pictures from the same distance?

Not enough information, so for now I retract my previous post, can?

I'll go back home and check out the information required.

Thanks for the help.

ISO400??? I think ISO200 is already abit er.... LoL

Yeah day shoot would be good. Let me think more about the location.. Feedback later

As for now, suggestions are

1.) Zoo
2.) Little India
3.) Sungei Buloh
4.) Jurong Bird Park
5.) Pulau Ubin
6.) Boat Quay/ Espanade
7.)

Interested S2 Users (welcome those whom are keen to buy S2 as well)
1.) kaywalk
2.) Lmodel
3.)

For the bkgnd blur, just use MAX telephoto and biggest aperture,
will get something like this (erm, may mean u need to back off quite far if the subj is BIG)

For the venue I would say sungei buloh not soooo gd idea,
when under shade, and max tele, Using iso100, 200
very hard to get at LEAST 1/60 esp if cloudy day

These are sungei buloh pics, the "not so blurred few"
just my $0.02 worth..

Hello friends.
I am from Shanghai , short-term work here. It's my first post here, and I have some questions of Canon S2. Hope I can get helps:bsmilie: .
I focused on Canon S2 for several days, and have been to Sim Lim. I will buy the cam tomorrow.
1. Anyone knows what's the price now, and freebies?
2 and which store was recommended?
3. Any notice? I am worry about if I can get authorized cam.
4. Reference price of 1GB high-speed SD? Chargeable Battery?
Thanks.

The price should be in the range of $840.00 and freebies from Canon are 256MB SD card, 1 Canon bag, minitripod and cleaning kit (not sure if they are still giving it out).

You can go to Alan Photo at Sim Lim Sq. However, if you are uncomfortable, you can always go to MScolor at Ang Mo Kio central. Pricing should be abt the same.

These shops are reputated and you can rest assured that the warranty will be under Canon (Singapore). Just ensure that the warranty card comes with the box.

For SD card, I'd also prefer to buy 02 x 512MB as the failure rate is lower. Just buy a 512MB first to see if it is sufficient for you as there is still a 256MB for you to play ard with. Price for Kingston 1GB Card shld be ard $93 and for Kingston 1GB Elite Pro shld be ard $108.

You may like to buy the MAHA battery charger. Each unit costs ard $45.00. For batteries, SANYO 2500 is considerably good for our usage. Costs should be ard $12-14 for 4 pcs.

Welcome to Singapore and Welcome to the Club!

Enjoy Shooting!

Cheers

heyz scenar.. where u took dat pic. of e squirrel?

Lmodel,
So kind of you, thanks:)

$840 include tax?
I got a quotation from one of Sim Lim Store, it's about 810(fogot if with or w/o tax?)

BTW:
I will use my New S2 to shoot the best scenes in Singapore, then show pics to all my friends.

Enjoy it.

Yeah GST inclusive (Goods and Service Tax). Think price might have gone up alittle and they are retailing for $850.00 (incl GST) if not wrong.

Oh, and u may need a bag for the camera too!
A nice lowepro "edit 110" bag can be bought from Cathay Photo (funan centre)@ around $20-$25
ask the salesperson for his best price!
The bag is small n compact but has place for extra batteries/mem card as well as some other
miscallaneous items u may want to add on in future (i.e. lens adapter/filter)

Just to check before I buy Canon S2. Can S2 be use other brand teleconvertor and filter just like panasonic? Do you need to get everything from Canon?

Not neccessarily. There are aftermarket brands like Kenko. However, turnout might not be as good as Canon lens.

Glad u like it!

I have the Canon Adapter, costs around $50-$60 if i remember correctly.
I have the hoya HMC multicoated filter, think its was $27.
U can find a cheaper version which is not multicoated in a
purple coloured packaging.

Acording to review DCResourcew.com, with 2300mha batteries, it will take 550 shots. But you got to try out and see if it is true as for me my batteries last me 2.5 weeks = 500 shots
