I have the Canon Adapter, costs around $50-$60 if i remember correctly.
I have the hoya HMC multicoated filter, think its was $27.
U can find a cheaper version which is not multicoated in a
purple coloured packaging.
JuzJaz said:Sorry ah, what's a Hoya HMC multicoated filter?? the purpose is to protect the lens & ?? :dunno: me newbie la.

scenar said:It is supposed to reduce the purplish tinge of UV haze @ high altitudes or when shooting across large stretches of water (when I was shooting across a large lake, this does work by personal experience). But I guess for most of us, the primary purpose is to protect the camera lens!
slmka said:but with the lens filter the hood wont be able to fit in rite? am I correct for this?
btw, I loves to shoot buildings @ night, what kind of filter would I need? coz I found if I open my shutter too long, the building lights will affect the picture...
thx ^ ^
If I'm not wrong, slmka is referring to that disgusting phenomenon where light sources, such as street lamps, have a six-directional "starburst". It's not so bad for lower exposures, the six rays are thin and you can almost pretend you used a starburst filterscenar said:The hood for the canon S2 will still fit, just that there wil be slight vigenetting @ the wide end, just zoom in a couple of mm.
@ nite? I dun think you need filters of any kind (barring those cheesy star filters)
what do u mean by "will affect the picture" ?
NightZ88 said:Heyz guys.. Can u help me wif a prob. wif e S2? Yesterday, i tried takin a grasshopper on a leaf by gettin v. close to it.. But usin e manual focus or auto focus, i canT seem to be able to focus on e subject. E box juz wun turn green.. Any advice? Thx..
no zoom at all.. but it canT focus. how?jefflam said:It depends on how close you are. If you use full zoom, you have to be about 1m away, any closer and you will have problem focusing. However, you can use a closeup filter/lens to get to 5 to 50cm from the subject, depending on the filter you use.
If you use Supermarco feature, you can be at 0cm to 10cm away from the subject.
Hope it helps.
cheers
Did you press the macro button for macro/supermacro first?NightZ88 said:no zoom at all.. but it canT focus. how?

Macro is 10 - 50 cm, supermacro is 0 - 10 cm. You can't use zoom in these cases, and that's why the specs say "(W only)", meaning maximum wide angle only.NightZ88 said:Ic.. Watz e diff. between macro and super macro? And e MF for wat? Srh arhz.. Quite new to e cam.
