Finally got the G7X from Courts near my work area... and at a price matching what I can get in Funan. They mentioned before that if I can find a price lower than theirs they can match it. So I got a written quotation from one of the shops in Funan and gave it to Courts, who matched it... Anyway, I still prefer to shop in Funan, especially from all my favourite shops. But I am kinda busy these few weeks and couldn't get to Funan... so I settle with the Courts near my work area.
Anyway, first impression like what others had mentioned before, was that the G7X's built is solid, no squeakiness and loose buttons. It was one of the smallest camera I have used that had so much buttons and control. The tension in the control ring is a bit tight though and when I try to twist that ring, my right hand accidentally hit the buttons at the rear of the camera quite a number of time, and it is kind of frustrating. But I think in time I will get use to it, so no biggie there.
I realise to my dismay that the NFC, although worked perfectly, cannot link the camera to my phone because I needed to download an app to my phone, yet that app is not available for me... obviously it is only available to android and ios... and I am using windows phone. So if that is a function that you need for window phone user, don't get the G7X. anyway, I have written to canon singapore and is waiting to see what they say and if they actually plan to release that app in windows store.
The camera is not thin by any means, I try popping it in my pocket, for my jeans it is out of the question, but for other pants, this camera fit tightly though. Pretty okay... but not really pocketable.
I haven't have the time to try shooting with it... but play abit with the control, I am familiar with it because I used Canon DSLR quite extensively so the control is nothing special in my opinion, and it fit right at home for me.
The only issue I have now is that I cannot find a freaking extra battery for it... and there is no filter adapters available (hoping that there will be in future). Plus there is no hotshoe for it so no external speedlite or viewfinder... but I read that you can use the HF-DC1 (flash). But it will looked funny in my opinion.
