Imo, i like this shot, it explains itself, and the moment of the boy and the barber being there is just right. Like what ahbian says, i too, prefer such shots over composed. It might take skill to get composition and lighting correct for posed shots, but i feel it takes even greater skill to capture subjects as they are, and adjusting your technique according to available light and uncontrolled environmental situations, right on the spot making the decision within seconds before the photo opportunity is gone.

Congrats for the 3rd place! Keep it up! :thumbsup:

True. I quite like a few posed shots (e.g. the one pointing a gun at his head at the Padang), but really if I had the luck to take part (kena mobilization :cry, I would hunt for situations in the streets that match the themes. But anyway, I am glad and envy you guys had so much fun out there. Cheers, good job and effort.

Actually no... hahahaha

It was one of 3 rings i bought at mobile kart outside Popular bookshop at Suntec.
3 for $5. Fake rings, for one of my earlier shots.

Our friend was taking a nap, holding the tissue,
it was so appropriate, put the ring on the chair and viola~! :bsmilie:

This year it was my turn to scratch my head, so many pictures of ads and pictures which had absolutely no link to the theme, or worst, technically wrong and even underexposed shots. :dunno: No offense intended.

No offence intended, still i gotta point this out. As for me, i even asked permissoin
from the boss from the barber. And there it is a green light. I'm not sure who you're
pointng at but still people would feel hurt. I think people would wanna respect the judges decision, be it great or bad, like mine. Photography + Politics = STUPID. Why i said
so is because to point people, saying some stuff might hurt some party, even though
at the end of the comment it says, no offense intended. Not shooting at you thou.

Maybe those of them who aren't happy, post up your photos at the c&c section. Let
others see and maybe thats prolly be the reasons. Just my 23cents.

Well, don't get me wrong dude.

I was stating at a general level, i felt that pictures of advertisements or posters (Hulk picture for example) were a direct rip of people's creativity. But of course, that's just me.

just finish watching all the photo from the website... man, all those photo are great even those in student catergory... so pro... quite surprise the light grafitti one didn't get the top 3 prize... i tot its very creative and a new form of photography, painting with light

how u create the "wings"?

yup, those are my shoes.. its a triple exposure with my LX-3, first shot was just me alone, second and third were long exposures in the dark with multiple pops of a gridded flash to light only the shoe as I rotated it.. had alot of assistance from a friend in the creation of this teadious shot..
