Is that actually "legal"? Sorry, I am not experienced in this competition, so quite a bit of questions.

Without the choice of editing, I can only see the laptop being helpful if I want to select which pictures I want to submission.

it is like stealing money elsewhere, and then spend it at the shop, without getting caught. Would you do that?

people who succumb to post editing when it is otherwise mentioned not to, they have no sense of integrity.

if they require you to shoot in jpeg, just shoot in jpeg and submit.

I agree with you. Even if the entry wins anything, it takes away the sense of self satisfaction since it is not done under fair competition.

Unfortunately, there will be people who feels that the ends justifies the means.

when will registration be closed?

hey! how come i wanna join but i'm born on 3rd nov 1988. so on the marathon day itself i'm still 18 right ? how come i can't join the youth section. :( no option to select 1988 as the bday year.

the photo workshop is on Hari Raya. how to attend :(

Are there checks to ensure no cheating?
Personally i prefer them to enforce rules of totally no editing. Real skill comes from the moment of shooting/cropping/framing right there on the spot, whether you get the shot or not. That's the decider. Not some editing and cropping after shot, anybody could do that.

I agreed this point. :)

u will see ppl who shoot in raw editing pics with laptops

Hi, not to think so much about all this. Just get yourself enjoy the event rather then think so much about it. Not to worry that if someone do that since they are "out to win". Even editing dont mean you sure win win lor......

Just enjoy the event brought by the organizer. This my first time too. :)

Well... a trained eye can see some of the more blatant manipulation...

:dunno: Anyway, have fun people :) That's the most important thing.

I think it is difficult to ensure no cheating... unless the manipulation is very obvious as someone stated, it is difficult to catch. But then, as I noticed most of the winning works are because of the great eye for picture or a great moment, which Photoshop cannot replicate. So participants should go for the best shot rather than the best editing skills! :bsmilie:

Once again, unless you are using the Image Verification Kit for the EOS 1-series which prevents image editing for evidence in court (macham CSI), it is quite impossible to monitor everyone. Signatures of the image such as the Histogram or EXIF data can help to hint about possible image manipulation, but then this contest is very much about sportsmanship. You cannot catch people who cheat on the golf course easily, and thus golf is often called a gentlemen's game. The spirit of the PhotoMarthon IMHO is to go out on the streets to get the best image on a single day, so just go out and have fun! :D

so that rules out the nikon dslr's internal shot adjustment (contrast, etc) , unless you are shooting exp +1,2,3 or -1,2,3 right? :bsmilie:

Uh... I think camera settings is fair enough. If they wanted 100% unadulterated photos, they would have made the requirement to shoot in unprocessed RAW only :bsmilie:

oh...due to overwhelming...no chance to register....

wow...
still 3 weeks to go... registration full already... cool!

 I haven't register... now closed liao..

Those who wanna register better do so before they close it again... :bsmilie:
