ok back to the main subject. that time i tried someone's sigma. but I see the color very cold. So I did not buy it.

i dun noe it call cold or wat, but sigma lens tends to give a bit of pinki tint. that why it look cold to you

anyway it is well know that 17-55mm F2.8 is the best in the league

Sigma 50 1.4 for sure. Great Image Quality.. choose the right f. and you will get consistently great results.

ive been using the ef 50mm f1.4 and its nothing short of great. yeah, its a lil soft wide open but at f2 its sharp till it hurts.... ouch.

touch wood no AF probs. read bout it b4 buyin but took the leap of faith. even at 1.4 so far still spot on AF.

IQ wise 50mm f1.4 is still great. for me i wont pay more... cos i cant afford. so if budget is a prob, get the canon.

anyway, most of the top end FF cameras are paired with the ef50mm f1.4 for advertisement. canon would not pair up a lousy lens with their 5D mk2, 1ds mk2, 1ds mk3, 1dmk4.... its a testimony.... if its a lousy lens then they are shooting themselves in the foot.

i dint say that they are saying that this lens is better than the 50 1.2 or 1.8, pls dont misqoute me.... im jus saying that this lens is tested, proven & delivers. im jus sayin its not lousy. they would not pair a lousy lens with a flagship camera. its able to handle 21mp of FF. thats wat it means.

and refering to your statement, its a standard. ya, i agree it is. a standard that is acceptable n trusted.

they had the choice of 60 over lenses, many standard ones, but they still use this old lens from 1993.

IQ is ok, Ps needed.
Sharp and it does look very nice. Perfect.

77mm is better.. I can use the filter from my other lenses as well.
